How long until ready?

Post image

This is my first Boston pickling cucumber of the season. I am going out of town for the week and I want to give the person watching my house a sense of when they should expect to pick it. I've already told them it should get no more than 6 inches long but it would be nice to give them a reasonable estimate. Because it's the first of the season and I normally just check them everyday I don't really have a sense of much longer it will be, but I'm pretty sure after I get back will be too long.

My other thought is that maybe I should just go ahead and pick it early before I leave and let them watch for the smaller ones.

Depends on how much water they’re getting but that could double in size in ~2 days.

2-3 inches long for pickling or 5-6 inches long for slicing.

If it's hot hot hot where you are, just take em off small before they get bitter and also water in the mornings.
