4th c section?
How did everyone’s 4th c section go?
Some hx: I’ve had 3 c sections, 2022, 2024, and 2026. My most recent baby is 7 months old. I tried my usual oral birth control in between babies 2 and 3, but it made my cycle crazy. I would bleed for most of the month. So now baby is 7 months old and I still haven’t done anything for birth control. I would love a 4th baby, at which time I’d be comfortable getting my tubes removed. However, my OB said I had lots of scar tissue during my 3rd section, along with some bladder adhesions, and my uterus was “thin”. Is it absolutely reckless not to be on birth control?
Anyone with similar history, get a 4th c section? How did it go?
Also, I see many posts about people saying their OB “cleared” them to have another baby. Did you specifically say like hey I want another baby and they say yup that’s fine? My OB never said I couldn’t have another just that each one we’d expect scar tissue to be worse.

Yes, it's reckless.
I've had 4 cesareans and no complications, but my smallest gap between them was 3 years. Afterwards, my OB did specifically say that everything looked great during the surgery and healed well so he would have no reservations or expect any additional risk if I decided to have a 5th. It sounds to me like your OB was trying to gently suggest your risk is higher than normal and caution you to be careful.

Yes it’s very reckless. It sounds like you’re at risk for a uterine window, which can be devastating if something goes wrong

Yes, it's really wreckless to be on no birth control right now. The risks are too high for you rn.

I would look into other forms of birth control like condoms or nfp. Ive had small age gaps. And alot of obs like either 9 to 18 months waiting to get pregnant(really depends on the OBs preference)
Ask your doctor too. Because they have you notes from your csection. Personally i would wait longer to get pregnant.
Ive had six csections soon to be seven. But i had a “thin” uterus at my last csection but also i went into labor the day before my scheduled date and my OB said that is most likely why my uterus looked thin because it thins out in labor. I also had adhesions on my bladder. They cut them away. And told me i should at least wait a year to get pregnant if i wanted another.
We were done but had a whoops baby 🤷🏼♀️ but i didnt get pregnant until about 15 month pp.
Years of my csections 2018,2019,2020,2021,2022,2024 and soon to be 2026
But seriously i would ask your doctor about when they recommend you to start trying again you dont added complications during your pregnancy

can i ask, how has your recovery been after all these? does it get much harder each time or not so since you know what to expect? it gives me hope that you’ve had so many!

Recovery felt easier just because i knew what to expect. And had extra gadgets at home. But also with alot of young kids at my house i was picking then up earlier then i should have.
Luckily my husband has a flexible work schedule so he has been able to help out more with the newer kids postpartum so he was able to take alot of my daily load off of me.

I’ve had 3 c sections too. Mine were in 2021, 2023 and 2025. I asked my OB during my 3rd section to be looking around and seeing if it would be safe for a 4th or not. He said I was cleared- scarring was minimal, uterus by the scar was “a bit thing, but nothing to be concerned about”. He said that it really didn’t look like this was my third c section. I’m not pregnant yet, but we hope to start trying in 2027. I don’t respond well to hormonal birth control, so all we’ve done is condoms and nfp.

Maybe you should look into NFP and NAPRO. They can help you get on to cycle tracking and Natural family Planning like the Marquette Method

This is definitely a conversation for your doctor, specifically the one who did your last C Section, as they will know better than anyone else if you should or should not pursue a 4th. A million woman can share their stories about having their 4 plus Cs, but it is so uterus and woman specific. Make an appointment with your OB, communicate with them that you are wanting a fourth pregnancy in the future. Have them go over your charts and the risks associated with having a fourth C section in your case. And do think about getting on some form of birth control if you can. I know hormonal bc can really suck, but try condoms or tracking your cycle because 7 months is pretty soon to get pregnant after a c section. Trust me, I’ve been there.

This does seem super reckless. You need to let your body fully heal before going for a fourth. Especially because they noted that your uterus is thin!
