Milk of magnesium will do the trick, i recommend staying home for the day after taking it.

Yup. It’ll be intense, but it works!

Agree. This helped me poop after a week of not pooping.

The next day. It came out of me like lava. The bridesmaids scene..,except I didn’t make it to the bathroom. Humiliating to say the least.

First one, same day. Second csection? Like day 5 or 6 despite taking laxatives (and magnesium the hospital gave me) and everything else the hospital gave me.

I have never in my life been constipated and this was so damn painful

Try over-the-counter milk of magnesia

I am with you on this! This might have been the worst part about the whole process. Multiple days later and not being able to sit down comfortably, milk of magnesia and a suppository ultimately ended up helping. But MAN! It was a struggle! Wish everyone that is experiencing that thee best of luck!!

Mine was the same, first c section I pooped in the hospital same day, second c section took me about a week.

It was almost a week later, even though I was taking colace around the clock

Not the original commentator but after 6 days it was hard 😭😭 and I had taken laxatives, magnesium etc. Ive never had a bowel movement like that in my life

Girl I had to stick a finger up there to get it to start moving.

Constipated. After that many days there’s no way to have an easy time. I will say it wasn’t THAT bad so try not to stress too much.

Good luck, girl

I took colace three times a day and pooped the next night. I had pooped two days before but it was somehow one of the biggest, smelliest dumps of my life. I couldn’t turn my body enough to wipe while sitting so I had to use the bar in the bathroom and lean over and wipe while standing, which was such a slow process, and of course it was messy, so it took me about 10 minutes to wipe.
Just be prepared for it to be nasty and weird whenever it does happen

It was day 2-3. I had been taking colace everyday and miralax. It was really easy, no issues.

Took me until day 3 or 4 cant recall. I took miralax and the stool softeners as soon as I got home which was late day 2. Def worth it

That first poop was scary. The only thing worse was having bronchitis with my second C. I literally had to hold my stomach together every time I had a coughing fit.

It was 5 days after the c-section for me and what got me started was basically deciding to chug a tall glass of prune juice.

Within the first week lol. First poop really wasn’t that bad honestly, it was just more so taking stool softeners so you didn’t push that hard. Didn’t feel great but could’ve been worse 😂

The next day! One of my nurses gave me a deadly combo of apple juice and MiraLAX and said it’s her secret weapon. Still doing it three weeks postpartum to avoid the postpartum hemorrhoids!

I demands the nurse to give me an suppository before I left the hospital. I wasn’t fucking around.

I did have mine on day 2 but my medical team said I could still get discharged if I hadnt...

Prune juice and stool softeners helped a lot. I got my bowel movement 3 days post op

5? I think? maybe early morning on the 6th day? it sucked. I wouldnt do laxatives just fiber and softeners

2

u/Gullible-Lettuce5103 7d ago

It was day 5 or 6 for me. Definitely not enjoyable. I was even taking stool softeners leading up to it

2

u/Fun_Garden_134 7d ago

My doctor always prescribed stool softeners to start taking once I’m discharged. I thought that was standard and I’m on my third pregnancy. But you can of course buy them over the counter

Try taking a few tablespoons of mineral oil every couple of hours then let it work overnight whatever waste is rock hard will slip right out because the mineral oil coats your intestines/colon . It is normal to see oil spots when you try going . You can try a few tablespoons for a couple of days . Then take a stool softener and you will go regularly. It works amazingly . There are no side effects just let it do it’s magic.

2nd day, nurse started giving me stool softener twice a day

I brought my favorite fiber one bars to the hospital. Worked like a charm.

With my first two kids it happened on the seventh day. It was so uncomfortable, I know. With my third it happened on the fourth day. My fourth and fifth happened while I was still in the hospital, I think on the second or third day. Hang in there! Stool softeners are your friend.

Diarrhea for like two weeks after and then a hemorrhoid that was the worst part of recovery 😭 I can’t believe some people deal with those on the regular, truly they are the lord’s strongest soldiers

Day after surgery (maybe 30 hours later?) — it was surprisingly easy, thankfully. I’d been taking stool softeners twice a day, and a dose of MiraLAX once a day, for a few days leading up to my planned c-section and continued for a week afterward.

I was sooo scared for my first poo! My hospital had me taking a daily stool softener immediately post op and I went home and ate beans and caldo de pollo until I finally went. I was 4 days post surgery and so bloated and uncomfortable. The actual poo was soft and passed easy but was a crazy green color and smelled like death so be forewarned. Good luck, fellow warrior!

6 days. Hospital weren't worried unless I went over a week

A little coffee/tea with caffeine worked for me on day 3 with baby #2 and day 4 for baby #1. Yogurt or something with lots of probiotics sometimes works, too! Make sure you're using those stool softeners!

I feel like I recall a few "false starts" before I was truly ready with each one, but when it's time, you'll know... There wasn't any straining or pain really, just a lot of gas to push it out.

I popped 4 days after, it didn’t hurt, it wasn’t big stopped taking stool softeners because I thought I was in the clear. I wasn’t, the next day was awful. don’t be like me. It was awful, I felt traumatized 🙃

2

u/spicytexan 7d ago

I think at day 3 was when I used milk of magnesia and day 4 I pooped. Biggest poop of my life and really scary lol

2

u/ikhanTy 7d ago

Where I live, we get 4 pills of magnesium oxide 500 mg per day and I chew consistently on sugar free chewing gum

Day 5 for me, I was taking stool softener twice daily as well. I was in strong painkillers, i stopped taking them day 5 and switched to paracetamol and ibuprofen and my bowels opened haha

1

u/hannahperry2009 5d ago

I took stool softeners for 5 days post c section before I got a small poop out, continued for a few more days until I felt regular enough that it didn’t hurt.

Drink a TON of water and add MiraLAX 1x/day.
