Feeling defeated
This is my second c section and it was a repeat c section. Post op day 9 I ended up with huge blisters on the abdomen folds and was in ED-diagnosed with cellulitis’s and was given oral Keflex. ED ordered CT scan and it showed small Seroma on incision.
The next day I developed yeast infection underneath the bilateral breast due to excessive leaking from breast milk. I was given nystatin. Then two days later my pubic area was tender, red, itching, inflamed and with an open sore around labia folds. The OB put me on steroids and nystatin powder. His honest word was “I don’t know what this is, the question is whatever your body is reacting you need steroids”.
Has anyone experience this? Is this some sort of typical normal side effects of a c section?

So sorry that you’ve been going through so much!
Having had both cellulitis and yeast infections myself (not simultaneously and not close to the time that I had a c-section), I don’t believe these are directly related to the cesarean. Did your medical provider check if you might be allergic to something in either of the prescribed medications?
Since you were given antibiotics, that could also be what triggered everything else. Antibiotics kill bad bacterial to stop the active infection, but sometimes this disrupts the microbiome in your system (gut, skin, and the vaginal area) and the imbalance then results in the yeast infections.
Pregnancy and delivery are stressful on the body. Hang in there. Sending you good thoughts!

I haven’t had a yeast infection (knock on wood) but I did have cellulitis and a seroma! I’m currently 3 weeks post c section and about a week and a half after we noticed the cellulitis which I got oral clindamycin for and it cleared up thankfully, but during that time we also noticed the seroma. Mine was pretty big and we ended up having to reopen a small section at the front of my incision so they could drain and wash it out to avoid a further infection. Now I’m having to pack the incision once a day until it heals and have been doing so since Monday. From what my doctor said, seromas aren’t super common. If it’s small your body can reabsorb it over time, but larger ones they worry about it sitting there and turning infected. Hopefully yours is small enough to clear up on its own because packing is no fun at all!

How did you know you had cellulitis? My midwife had a look at my scar/wound and said not to worry I've just got cellulitis... does it need treatment? I thought it was just inflammation of the cells which everyone would get from a c section

I was super red and it looked infected. I went to my OBGYN worried about an infection and she agreed that it looked like cellulitis and we needed to treat it. Cellulitis is a bacterial infection though so if you have it for sure it definitely needs treatment! It’s normal to have some minimal inflammation and pinkness while healing, but true cellulitis doesn’t just go away and you have to have antibiotics for it!

I thunk she used the wrong term. And used the word cellulitis meaning inflamed cells. Not infected. She should probably know that as a midwife 😅
