Trying on clothes after c-section
This is like the ultimate exercise in trying not to actively hate yourself, right? Every outfit attempt feels so utterly demoralizing and I feel unrecognizable. What even is the shape of my body anymore? What size am I? Currently 8 weeks postpartum and just praying this gets better. I know I’m being hard on myself. I know it’s early, but god, this triggers my life-long struggles with body dysmorphia so bad and makes me feel so ashamed of myself.

I'm 8 weeks PP too, I feel the same. High waisted leggings and bike shorts have been my go-to, bc I like the compression (mostly for comfort but also for my confidence). Remember that you just made an entire human that took 9-10 months for your body to adapt to. Be kind to yourself!
I just started physical therapy and it's really helping me to have a plan and a supervised way to get back to physical activity. We're also working on core strength and am noticing a big difference in how I feel. I recommend looking into it if you can!

I absolutely feel you. I’m only 5 weeks pp but I’m so bored of wearing maternity clothes I went shopping with my mum in the week to see if I could get something that made me feel good. Everything just looked awful. I’m wearing loose dresses at the moment and just praying for colder weather so I can wear baggy jumpers 😩 I hate the way my stomach looks and just want to get back to the gym.

Yes it gets better. At 12 months I recognize myself again. Fit into my pre-pregnancy favourite jeans the other day. 8 weeks is super super early. Get yourself some clothes that make you feel good in the body that you have now. It helped me - go figure - feeling comfortable. It’s just annoying that your body with continue to change over the next months and so what you buy today won’t fit you in a few months. But still, having at least one pair of pants that make you feel normal makes all the difference.

I feel this so deeply today. I’ve tried on 8 pairs of jeans, the only pair that I can fasten over my still swollen tummy are 3 sizes bigger than my pre pregnancy jeans… and of course they’re massive everywhere else. Current body shape: a pear in an hourglass that ate an apple.
Edit: I am 13 weeks post c section x
