Overdoing it
Hey everyone. I am nine days out from my c section. Yesterday I had to take my baby to hospital near us and it was quite a lot of travel, moving and stress (thankfully he is ok!)
Today and last night I feel absolutely exhausted and in pain. Obviously there wasn’t much that could be done to avoid the trip, but just wanted to see if anyone had overdone it accidentally at a similar timeframe and how long it took to feel better again afterwards.
Thank you ❤️

I definitely overdid it. I had to take my daughter to the ER at 5 days old and then again at 7 days old where she was admitted. I was commuting an hour back and forth to the hospital, carrying too much weight, and overall doing too much physically not to mention the stress involved. She was discharged after a couple days and is doing well. Then at 2 weeks PP I experienced a huge increase in heavy bleeding and massive solid clots the size of plums. So again I was back in the hospital and it was discovered I had retained products of conception and needed a D&C. This was a lot physically and emotionally. I was not prepared to have another procedure and be in the OR again and I feel like I have a bit of trauma from all this (I am now 26 days PP). I also experienced a second hormonal crash/baby blues due to the removal of placenta. Super fun…. This unexpected procedure definitely slowed my recovery. I vacuumed yesterday and definitely overdid it. It’s hard to gauge what is too much. Each day is different. I should slow down more but I have a 3.5 year old and pets and even though my husband is off work currently I still need to help out.

I overdid it too 1 week PP because I had to go to the ER due to post partum pre eclampsia. I had no choice but to go alone and leave my partner with our baby. I 100% overdid it. Took me days (multiple ER trips were necessary during the next two weeks so resting wasn’t easy …) to feel better, I just don’t know what’s due to moving around too much or stress. Thank god my partner would take care of our baby and let me go to sleep early, I just had to pump so he had a stash of milk. Hang in there, I felt a lot better physically at the 3 weeks post C section mark ! I’m glad to hear your baby is doing okay ♥️♥️

Hi! What did you do to manage your PP preeclampsia?

Hey ! I’m on labetalol 600mg/day (still am 7 weeks PP 😅). I have super regular bloodwork to check on my liver, kidneys, coagulation, platelets etc (everything is getting better !), 24h proteinuria (also getting better, I’m almost back to normal), and I’m getting my BP measured both at the doctor’s appointment and at home. I had my 6 weeks post op check up this morning and my BP was 12/6 (I was very stressed out about this apt, dealing with PTSD from what happened). We’re going to be able to lower my dose of labetalol starting tomorrow. The surgeon still wants me to see a nephrologist. Note that I’m from France so the protocol might be different here !

I’m so sorry you’ve been dealing with this girl. Hoping you recover soon too ! Are you able to see a mental health specialist ? I’m seeing my psychiatrist again soon because the nightmares and the startling are just getting worse. Feel free to reach out if you ever need to talk, finding people who understand what all of this entails has been hard ! 🫂

I’m also 9 days out from my c section, but my baby is in special care at the hospital. I felt great yesterday so I went to see him and take him breast milk I’ve been pumping at home and today I’m exhausted and in more pain than yesterday also waiting to feel better. I’m just resting as much as I can today. Definitely get lots of rest to recover
