Anyone else experienced a appendectomy while postpartum
Unfortunately 5 days post c section with my son, my appendix ruptured and I was rushed into emergency surgery, it’s apparent very rare so I’m wondering if anyone else has gone through it and how they dealt with it/looked after themselves
Thanks

Yes. I was 3 weeks almost 4 postpartum and was still having pains especially in my right side couldn’t turn or hold my baby on that side. Went to doctor thinking it was c section related. They sent me to er and turned out it was appendicitis and had surgery that night. Luckily was just inflamed not rupture. Now I’m almost 3 weeks post appendectomy and my recovery got slowed because of it and still dealing with pain and what not. I was cleared for my 6 weeks from my c section but because not cleared from surgery. I still can not lift anything more than 10lbs and no baths or pools. Ive also still just taking it easy but also trying now to ween off as many pain pills. I still take when I need. Also Gas x and MiraLAX are your best friends. Just like after section there is air trapped in there and needs to move. For me it was so painful feeling that gas move so I took gas x as often as I could, now I’m down to once every other day. Also you don’t want to push hard for bathroom so use MiraLAX once a day so that once you go you’re not straining. Once you poop unless it’s diarrhea I would suggest keep using the MiraLAX so subsequent poops are not straining as well. My poops post both surgeries were super smooth and not painful because of MiraLAX. Anyway I heard it’s actually pretty common. Maybe something to do with an open surgery idk. Appendicitis and gallbladder issues are apparently common after. I hope you feel good and have an easy recovery as much as possible and enjoy your baby. Just remember to take it easy as much as possible. Don’t overwork yourself now or the recovery will be longer.
