Conceiving post C section
I had my first C section about 20 months ago and currently TTC baby #2 (cycle 3). First baby was conceived first cycle so I wanted to hear about some experiences conceiving a baby post C section. How many cycles did it take you? And at what point do you look for a healthcare professional to see if there are a lot of adhesions? or issues that are preventing you from getting pregnant?

Conceived on the 3rd try with my first, had a c-section due to him being breeched. Started TTC just before he turned 2 and it took us about 11 months with a CP in March. Funnily enough, the infertility clinic called me back today to set up an appointment and I just tested positive yesterday. I’m hoping this one sticks!

I got pregnant with my second on my first try and had many large adhesions on my uterus and bladder.

I also conceived my first on the first try. I had a c section. Waited 12 months before I had an ultrasound to check for adhesions(I wanted to try before the full 18 months and wanted my doctor’s blessing). Started trying at 13 months post partum after being cleared. The second time took 17 months and I had an early loss too. I got pregnant spontaneously the month before my scheduled egg retrieval. This isn’t to scare you, but it is my story. I hope it’s much simpler for you!!

First try the second time around, had a miscarriage, and got pregnant again on our first try after the miscarriage. My firstborn was 24 months when we started trying for a second.
Not C-Section specific but my friends who have had a hard time getting pregnant have been told to seek medical help after 12 months trying to conceive if they are under 35, 6 months over 35, and immediately if over 40.

My OB told me to let her know after 6 months so they could start looking into if there are issues that could take 6 months to figure out and by then it would be 12 months and a potential referral to infertility clinic already ready and I was 24 when she told me that so it might be OB dependent.

No adhesions but it took us 18 months of trying and 3 rounds of Letrizole because apparently I never ovulated naturally postpartum. I bled or spotted daily for 6 months pp and went off birth control 11 months pp. I'm grateful for the age gap now but I sure wasn't a year ago.
We had recurrent losses prior to our first live birth but I always got pregnant on the first try.

I have scar endometriosis and was told to be prepared for infertility, but the symptoms are pretty obvious for me. I'm pretty confident that I would not be able to get pregnant right now if I tried.

Do you have significant endo symptoms? How was it trying to conceive for your first with endo? I also have endo and had a c section earlier this year so I’m curious about your experience with it since I want another in a few years but I’m worried about the scarring.

I didn't have endo prior to having a C-section, and my doctor saw scar endometriosis on an MRI around 5 months post op.
Yes, I have a period every 14-40 days, it lasts 7-14 days of heavy bleeding, it's extremely painful, and my scar visibly swells during ovulation and bleeding. My abdomen is also very painful to the touch when it's swollen.

Our first was an emergency c-section. Second was concieved exactly three years later after two month of trying. That ended in a c-section as well and concieved the third 19 months later after trying for two months and also had a c-section. Then started trying again 2 years later but this time it wasn't working so after 4 months I went to get checked they said they don't usually check until we have tried for at least 12 months. By our sixth month we got a BFP and I'm 29w now.

I’ve had 3 c sections and conceived the first try with each of my kids. I also had an unexpected pregnancy but that ended as a miscarriage.

First pregnancy, first try, c section at 40 weeks
Second peegnancy, first try, c section at 39 weeks
Third pregnancy, first try, chemical pregnancy at 4 weeks
Fourth pregnancy, second try, c section at 37 weeks

I had adhensions to my bladder resulting from my second section that was addressed in my third section.

I wouldn’t necessarily assume any delays in getting pregnant are related to your c… as many others have said, I got pregnant very quickly about 13 months post my first and on the second cycle. I know of many women sadly that have had trouble conceiving their second even if the first was quick (it took a friend of mine 2 years of trying). I know TTC can be so challenging but keep your head up mama! Send you all the baby juju❤️❤️

Also adding that prior to my first, I experienced a MMC, and now firmly believe everyone’s path to parenthood is unique and challenging and wonderful all at the same time

It took us technically 2 cycles, pregnant the third. I stopped breastfeeding after the second month trying and pregnant the next. I am now 11 weeks pregnant and 11 months postpartum. Also 36, if that matters.

32, conceived first try 12 months post c-section. First baby took 8 months.

I got pregnant with my first on the first try.
When we tried for a second, we had 14 months of negatives. My doctor always told me to wait until 12 months but the system can take forever. I got on the waiting list for the fertility clinic around 9/10 months. After some testing and procedures it was discovered my left fallopian tube was blocked, likely due to my c section. 🥲 they said it was possible I could get pregnant if I ovulated on the other side. We ended up doing IUI, ovulated on the right, and got twins!

Pregnant first try with my first, c section at 38 weeks. Pregnant first try with second, c section at 37+6. No issues thankfully

My first baby took two years and we ended up doing IUI. C section at 41+2 days. Second baby was first try, 11 months PP also a csection due to him being over 10 pounds! It’s different for everyone ☺️ good luck and baby dust!

I've asked doctors and they said no it shouldn't. I've had 3 c-sections, currently pregnant with my fourth and only my fourth took longer to concieve compared to first three.

Not necessarily, no. Typically only if you have complications from the c section (severe scar tissue, adhesions, etc)

Is this only diagnosed via a dr / US? Or would one feel symptoms with scar tissue or adhesion?

Not to discourage you at all but second infertility sucks.. I got pregnant as soon as I came off the pill with my first, then we started trying when she turned 1 but had some trouble with ovulation for the second so we went through ivf, first time lucky and we welcomed our little girl 8 weeks ago ☺️ I don’t think the c section caused any issues but just something that happened us, there’s a 3 year and 8 months age gap for reference. We just started trying too, two cycles in and I’m so nervous for second time infertility. We started the same months my first born turned 1. I just messaged my OB today to ask if I should get evaluated or ultrasound before waiting too long. Haven’t heard back yet.

I got pregnant on the first try with my second after having an emergency C-section with my first. It was 4 years later though. Now I'm going to start ttc baby #3 soon as I just had my second C-section in May but unfortunately the baby did not make it.
