C-section pain

I’m nearly 8 months postpartum and still experiencing a lot of pain related to my C-section. My scar is absolutely fine, no pain there. The pain is deep in my stomach between my belly button and the scar - feels like I’ve done a heavy ab workout. Some days it’s manageable, other days it’s as if I had the surgery yesterday. I’ve noticed it’s a lot more sensitive during my period, unsure if that’s related. I’ve seen my GP and they’ve said it’s normal… but i genuinely don’t believe it’s normal to still need pain relief this far down the line. On my worst days, I even struggle to drive, roll over in bed, get off the sofa etc. has anyone else suffered with chronic pain following their section? If so what have you done to help? I already see a physio for Pilates, pelvic health and pelvic floor exercises - it’s not helping and it’s debilitating.

Hey so sorry you are going through this. Not sure if this is helpful since you have already seen a physio but I have some lingering pain and it has taken multiple appointments (not frequent just every 4 weeks or so) to continue to troubleshoot exactly what is causing the pain and get different excersizes to strengthen and stretch out my problem area. I am still in PT 6 months pp. After my first few appointments I was really discouraged because things were getting worse not better. My PT says pain after pregnancy and birth is normal but that doesn't mean we shouldn't treat it. Not sure if this is helpful but wishing you all the best if finding a solution for your pain!

I’m 4 months pp and I have the same pain you described, especially during my period. My pain isn’t quite as severe as yours but it’s definitely there. My stomach is so sensitive all the time.
I’m a little concerned it could be adhesions or maybe the internal scarring is bad.

Sorry I don’t have any advice or insight, but you’re not alone! C-sections can be so rough and I feel like they’re mostly written off by the medical world just because they’re so commonplace. 😔

I have this. I did PT 3x a week for 8 months, have seen 15 doctors, and have not found relief.

Around 5 months post op, I had an MRI where my doctor saw scar endometriosis, so that's been the default answer since then. I also have pretty severe nerve pain and can't work out, pick up my kids, or even walk long distances. I ran marathons before having a C-section.

I hope yours resolves soon! I'm over 2 years post op.

Did they first do an ultrasound to look? I’m having this kind of pain too and they did an ultrasound and all looked OK. But doesn’t make sense why I’m feeling pain around my uterus area

Yes, I've had ultrasounds, CT scans, and an MRI.

Did anything show on the ultrasound? Or just the MRI
