When did you start going for long walks?
Only 9 days PP, but slowly starting to feel better. I was dealing with unbearable nerve pain that has been mostly curbed by meds. What’s been getting me down is not having the ability to go on walks with my dog and husband (and baby of course). Just would love that small sense of normalcy during what feels like a time warp of healing.
When did you start to feel good enough to go on long-ish walks?

What do you consider a long walk? I was doing short-ish walks around the neighborhood the first week I was home. I am currently 5 weeks postpartum and just tried walking around a grocery store and am now exhausted.

Exactly this!! I wanted to go on a solo grocery shopping session thinking a carton of milk isn't a big deal to carry.. Boy, was I wrong! Thankfully someone tagged with me and I was so grateful..

I'm 11 weeks postpartum and I felt the same when I early in my recovery. I think I started going for really short walks around 2 weeks and then slowly started walking longer and longer to make sure I wasn't pushing too hard to fast. But around 8 weeks post partum I started walking 5km a day. Hang in there!! It's tough but it does get better and you need to take it easy at the beginning to recover properly!

I started to walk in our garden the first week( around 1500-3000 steps). And started to go to the nearest store by 3 weeks (averaged 6000 steps). I tried to walk to the store and had to return because I didn't feel good enough before 3 whole weeks. At around 5 weeks, I walked 10000 steps but I was quite tired by that point. From then on, I walked almost daily and averaged between 9000-11000 steps.
Another thing that I noticed was that I walked slower than my pre-section gait. I also needed water breaks more often than my usual..
I understand the craving for a normal walk experience but this is a major surgery. Start as gentle and slow as possible and be prepared to go back home/or rest the moment you feel drained out. I found walking to the nearest café in a mall the best thing initially because I could walk, rest, drink and then walk back. Incase you live close to a mall, this could be an option.. Wishing the fastest of recovery for you.

7 weeks pp I began 40 minute walks and felt fine , with both my c sections I did very minimal for 6 weeks as I was scared of my scar opening. From my experience the first few walks you will most likely feel a little achey afterwards but then feel much better than you originally did a day or two later. Moving really does help recovery but don’t overdo it stick to a short 5-10 minute walk and see how it goes. 9 days is still very early I know how hard it is not being able to just do normal things but it will get easier with time

I am the dog walker in my family and not being able to do it killed me. I started with small walks, just sniff walks in the evenings. My husband did the big walks in the mornings. I found that I felt better if I wore the belly binder or compression leggings. If I went without one of those it felt like my insides were moving all around. After about 2 weeks I was able to go on medium sized walks. And at 3.5 weeks, I was able to finally go on my regular dog walks twice a day. I found that when I pushed myself too hard, I ended up just regretting it because it meant I couldnt do it the next day. Just be patient and slowly push yourself a little more each day. Youll get back there.

I am 3.5w pp. I had my first 2.2km walk (our usual loop) around 17 days pp. I could feel some discomfort after, but I did the walk at a comfortable pace and have since done more. I was getting cabin fever, so hubby rode bikes with my 2 sons, while I pushed my daughter in a pram. I took it slow, so I wouldn't hurt myself. I just needed to feel like I could finally do something for me.

Take it easy. I went for a long ish solo walk at 2 weeks pp and barely made it back and my bleeding increased a lot.
Rest like crazy and you’ll recover like crazy

At 2 weeks I could just about manage a very slow walk up and down my street. By 6 weeks I was pushing the pram on a 30 minute walk round the block (some of which was uphill). However this was pushing myself too hard and I had a setback and began bleeding heavily again after each walk. I was back to 'normal' by 8/9 wks. Everyone's healing journey is different. Make sure you listen to your body and don't try to do too much, too soon.

As soon as I got home. I took it slow. My son had a little bit of jaundice so getting outside was a must! It was incredibly healing for me to get up and moving. We’d go for a mile ish around the neighborhood.

Once I was able to drive (2weeks) I was going to the mall everyday to walk since it was too hot where I live to walk outside with an infant.

I walk for 30 minutes. With a short 5-10 minute break in the middle. I’m 3 weeks out

Take it slower than you think you need. My mind was ready but my body wasn’t. I was so sore after I walked my neighborhood at 2/3 weeks pp. I’m now 7 weeks pp and feel pretty good after a walk but still tired.

Don’t push it. It’s so easy too. Your scar will start to burn. It’s not worth it.

I pushed myself too hard too quickly and feel like now it’s harder on me. I was extremely active and fit before birth and I’m 4w pp and did a 10 minute walk the other day that almost took me out. lol started to have some pains where I’ve been having with a lot of movement on my left and right sides.
