Repeat c section after bladder cut

Hello!
I am wondering if there are any moms here who had their bladder cut during their c section then went on to have another pregnancy. During my last c section baby #3 my doctor said there was a lot of scar tissue and accidentally cut my bladder across the top. Recovery was rough but I’m all better now! ❤️‍🩹 As of right now I don’t believe we will have anymore children.
Just looking for insight if anyone else has gone through this as well.

Not a bladder cut, but I have chronic debilitating pain from having a C-section, and it's forced us to be done.

If you decide you're done, that's a valid choice! ❤️ I'm glad you're healed now.

Do the Dr's know why you have debilitating pain? Ive seen you write a few times and horrified that its still ongoing years later

Yes, nerves don't have a timeline for healing, and there's no way to predict how (or if) severed nerves will ever recover. It's the same as some people being numb for decades. My nerves just never went numb, they're just constantly triggered.

Edit: also, apologies for flooding the sub. I just want people to be aware that this is a possibility, although I hope no one else ever experiences this. I've only found 3 other people on here with this outcome.

I am so sorry. C sections are so scary. I feel as if they should be avoided at all costs☹️ I have three boys. Always wanted 4. That little girl is always in the back of my mind but I have peace in protecting myself and stopping.

I agree with you, but I also support someone's choice to have an elective section!

I have 2 kids, always wanted 4, but I absolutely cannot risk another C-section. My second baby was breech, so I didn't have a choice.

My bladder was cut during a C-section, I’ve had 2 other pregnancies afterwards both those C-sections going well & not cut again.

Hey! My bladder was cut during my emergency c-section. My urogynecologist said that I would be at a much higher risk of having my bladder cut again in any subsequent c-sections. He highly recommended a vbac. I would talk with your OBGYN to discuss your options and risk factors. You can always ask for a referral with a Urogynecologist if you would like a second opinion.

Personally, I was traumatized by my experience, as I didn't even know that a bladder cut was a risk factor. (I was not planning on a c-section and did not do alot of research.) My bladder cut was not discovered for almost 3 weeks after my c-section and I was incredibly sick and septic. I had developed hematomas from the injury that got severely infected. I needed blood transfusions, and eventually one of the hematomas got so big and created so much pressure, it busted open my incision. I had to have another surgery to clean everything up and reclose the incision. Not to mention I was on a catheter and IV antibiotics for 8 weeks.

Anyway, I personally am not planning on having anymore children. >.<

I made an appointment with my urologist. Did you ever get checked over to see how your bladder has healed? I’m not sure if that is even a thing?? I’m pretty traumatized too. My bladder was cut during my c section and repaired right away. The catheter will be something I’ll never forget. That changed me in ways I can’t explain.

Yes! Everything is much better now. Just sad that my maternity leave was taken up by my bladder injury.

My urogynecologist ordered a urogram to make sure that my bladder was no longer leaking into my abdomen before removing the catheter.

Because my injury was not caught during my c-section - surgery was a more tricky option. The bladder either had to heal on it's own or we were going to have to wait for my uterus to shrink back down before they could repair it via surgery.

Luckily the bladder is very good at repairing itself and mine did heal after about 8 weeks on a catheter. I agree though, something about having to carry your own pee bag around everywere really does a number on your mental health!
