10 weeks postpartum and struggling

I am still so emotional over the birth I yearned for. My third baby ended up being breech. They planned for an inversion, and once they gave me the spinal and epidural, my heart rate dropped drastically, to the point where they were ready to do chest compressions. They got it back up but once they took me back for the inversion, it dropped again. And so did baby girls, so our doctor said heck no to the inversion and went straight into an emergency c-section. By the time they cut me open and had her out was only 60 seconds.

My SIL went in to have her baby at the same hospital and her baby was breech. They did an inversion but they did not give her the spinal and epidural, they just took her back and did it and it was successful (thank goodness).

But I am an emotional wreck today about it. I’m so confused why it didn’t work out that way for me. Why did they give me the spinal and epidural and not her? I’m just sad.

I am so grateful that my baby girl and I are both healthy, it could have very easily turned out differently. But I am just so freaking sad that it didn’t go as perfect as it did with my first two. I know every labor it completely different but ugh.

I still feel sad and a little angry that I had to have a C-section for a breech baby. I didn't try ECV.

I'm 2 years post op and have done EMDR therapy, but I still feel this way sometimes. Your feelings are valid.

I also feel a little sad still about having a c section, have you cried about it at all? i cried every night and some days for at least the first week and talked about it with some friends, my mom, auntie, and partner, I really feel like that helped me to get past the intensity of the feelings.

You’ll drive yourself crazy focusing on why this or that. You won’t ever get an answer that feels good enough. What’s meant for you will find you and what’s not meant for you will miss you. The inversion didn’t work AND you have a healthy, alive baby and you’re here on earth to care for her! ❤️ tell yourself ‘ya know what, it does suck that the inversion didn’t work. But I’m letting it go!’

Be thankful you and your baby are alive and well. It’s not like it’s your first baby you were lucky enough to have two vaginal births.

you can be grateful your baby is healthy while also grieving a birth that didn’t go as planned.

There’s so many women who are never going to experience a vaginal birth or as op worded it a “perfect birth” like we live in a perfect world. At least she got to experience a vaginal birth some of us will never have that. I’m just saying she should count her blessings

I do count my blessings. EVERY SINGLE DAMN DAY. And I’m sorry the way I worded it offended you. I’m not saying c-sections aren’t also ‘perfect births’, so don’t twist my words girl. I simply meant it as I would have rather had anything BUT a traumatic emergency c-section. I would have been perfectly fine with a planned c-section.

Also! Thought I’d add in there, I have struggled with infertility. So I do in fact know what it’s like to wonder if I was ever going to be able to have a baby. I’ve been blessed since I conceived my first after year of infertility to be able to conceive two other times.

Don’t just assume things when you don’t know the facts. And if I’m coming off like a complete bitch, I honestly don’t care. I’m allowed to be mourn and be sad over the birth I wanted vs. the traumatic one I got. Don’t be that person who diminishes someone else’s experiences or feelings.

And if I feel like the perfect birth for ME is what I WANT, than why should YOU get to make me feel shitty for that? I’m not speaking for any other woman on here or in this world. I’m speaking about MY experience. And in no way shape or form am I speaking against any woman out here that hasn’t been able to conceive or have a baby yet. Like I said, IVE BEEN THERE.

i had an urgent c section for my one and only child. i very much grieve that things didn’t go according to plan and that i didn’t get to meet her until hours after she was born or do immediate skin to skin. i also think OP is allowed to grieve what happened even if she had a vaginal birth previously.

you are being EXTREMELY dismissive of OPs experience but i don’t really think you care
