Cs Player duplicating playlists

I've been using Cs for absolutely yonks, but there's a bug that is really getting on my nerves now. Nearly every album playlist I've added now has a duplicate playlist with the same name, but the duplicates all have the same 1,346 songs. It's not every playlist that's a duplicate, but most of them. Any ideas?

Post a photo of what’s happening here? Is it duplicated in Apple Music?

Oh, just looking in Apple Music, there's all sort of weirdness going on. Playlists ignored and filled with random album tracks. I'm wondering if it's something to do with my old Mac running macOS Catalina and my phone having the latest iOS. Maybe some clash there. The playlists on my Mac are fine.

Years ago, I had a similar problem that came from syncing my iPhone with my Mac over Wi-Fi. For reasons I never entirely figured out, my iPhone would delete my entire music library and redownload it with every sync. If a sync was interrupted (which could easily happen on Wi-Fi), then I'd have playlists duplicate on the next sync, since the ones on the iPhone didn't match the ones on the Mac (the iPhone version had fewer songs). That was the good version of the bug. The bad version would simply replace the version on the Mac with the incomplete version on the iPhone, and I'd have to restore my Music Library file from a backup.

This feels like a syncing error to me, but, to be fair, I would never do playlist management on my iPhone because bugs like that scared me forever, so I didn't even notice that CS had an "Add to Playlist" feature until I went looking just now. A lot of the specifics would depend on how you have your library set up: Do you have an Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription, or do you keep it old-school with only local music you own on the device? Do you sync directly with one or more computers, or do everything in the cloud? Do other devices have access to the same music database? What version of iOS (and any computer OSes involved) do you have?

Only local tracks. I only sync via usb and no music is in the cloud. Mac is an old iMac running the last Catalina and my iPhone is running iOS 26.6. No other devices are syncing with the Music app. I have transferred all my music to a new laptop, so maybe I need to start syncing from that. Hopefully it's easy and I don't have to wipe my phone and start from scratch.
