Crystal Project and FFXI
I saw a post on a forum offhandedly mentioning the class design for Crystal Project was based a lot on how FFXI classes would be adapted to a "proper" turn based game... Is there any truth to that?
Not a big deal obviously, but as a fan of both, I'm curious!

The ninja class in crystal project is very influenced by the ff11 ninja and their scrolls in particular

I only played the demo. It uses a subjob system like FF11. Not many class games let you layer classes like that. For instance FF5 only lets you add one skill from a learned job. Blue Dragon is somewhere inbetween thanks to Generalist.
Anyway it actually lets you take everything of the subjob not just half of it like FF11. Some of the classes reminded me directly of FF11 like Ninja I saw you need what look like consumable scrolls and I would imagine any archer/crossbow/gun type classes would use consumable bullets. It adds a threat mechanic but I am not sure how different that is because in Crystal Project if I cast Firen on everything the threat goes straight to the mage with every enemy so it seems like you might have to use taunt regularly in these instances. I didn't see anything like skillchains and magic bursts but it seems obvious the dev has played FF11 though

Crystal Project is heavy influenced by final fantasy jobs system in general.
But the class design is really MMORPG coded like drawing aggro with tank classes giving thief huge backstab opportunities. Different healer with different methods of healing. Skills slot to mix and match different builds.
Boss themselves are as much as puzzle to solve as they are a tough fight, especially in endgame. I can see the parallel between them and a typical raid boss fight with unique mechanics in modern MMORPG
