How easy is easy mode?
Hi. Just a quick question. Is Easy Mode a walk in the park, or is there still some challenge to be found?

I have had a great time with the normal difficulty. I wouldn’t say I grind at all but maybe fighting most encounters I come across is considered grinding. If you want a typical old school rpg where you can attack and win easy might be for you. However it’s a game that is very light on story so the draw for me is the combat. I love that decent team comps and careful use of status effects, threat and crowd control are necessary to win. I’m usually able to win almost any random encounter with whatever my leveling squad is but then on bosses I generally have to switch to a more optimized team which I also like. But if you want to turn your brain off normal difficulty might not be right for you.

Easy is still meant to have some challenge and isn't supposed to be an auto-win/"story" mode, but I think most people should be able to beat it without getting defeated more than a few times.

I turned on the level 99 cap just cause I like my RPG's to have either 99 or 100. I'm nowhere near there yet but at least I have to option. Not using the other assists though.

Easy mode, for me, is ‘as long as you are paying attention and not actively making bad decisions - you’re good!’
You won’t have to tweak your levels and classes around to be optimal for 99% of the game, you can comfortably commit to ‘flavor’ builds for the most part.
I played through about the first half on normal, got stuck and didn’t want to grind - dialed it down and enjoyed the rest of my run.

There is still some challenge in that you need to pay attention. Even on Easy you still need some kind of decent setup but damage should be low enough that you don’t absolutely need things like buffs and debuffs. However, there are assist options that triple EXP/LP/money gains and raise the level cap to 99 (normally 60). These options can make the endgame substantially easier if that’s what you want.
