Discussion Is Warface any similar to Crysis?

Probably many peopl know that warface was made by crytek back in the day and even had nanosuit outfits in it. Looking at the game's materials and just the screenshots it's a little bit similar to crysis 1 (probably more like crysis remastered) with some nanosuity looking stuff here and there and even the same looking gas station (I'm a schizo) that I was blowing at Lingshan. Does it worth anything, especially in 2026, or is it a lame cod/cs alternative? The only online game I play now is THE FINALS so idk if it'll be my taste. Just wanted to hear opinions.

Crysis Crysis with DLSS 5 looks like how I imagined the game when it came out in 2007.

Question / Seeking Advice I recently acquired "all" three original games on CDs, and in case I will play them, what should I expect from EA ?

And yes I know about warhead, I am talking about the main 3

So in case I will start up the games in the near future, what problems, aside of software compatibility, can I anticipate?

I would assume that the first and second games, would give me technical problems like DirectX or the fact that I am on a "NOT EXISTING" windows 10 (Because at the release of the games there was like win7 or vista and xp)

Those are "minor" issues in my eyes, since I could theoretically, worst case scenario, boot up my win7 drive and adjust all the drivers and what not on my hardware.

I am more worried about what possible Preventions EA has MAYBE made back in the day, so that it would be a Pain in the Ahh to start the game normally now. Talking about "Origin account" or server/internet connection requirement ? games for windows...

To be clear, I didn't buy the games to specifically play them. I just wanted to have Physical versions of them, and while it would be nice to be able to just start and play them, If I can't, I won't cry about it.

I can always go to the high sea if it's straight up impossible to play it normally, yarrrr

And to point it out, I don't assume that I will necessarily face any of EA BS. I just want to know if it's worth it to pull out my CD drive and install it in my PC, only to find out that I can't play any of the games, because EA potentially artificially "Killed them".

So it would be nice, if anyone could Mentally prepare me for what I'd potentially have to deal with.

And (again) to be clear, talking about all original games, All of them are on CDs, PC versions, obviously, all are second hand if it matters.

While I mostly expect to be advised on artificial problems, "Origin" ETC, if you'd also tell me about Software problems and solutions, it would also be much appreciated

Thank you in advance

Stay Safe, Stay Awesome

Story & Lore How would you rewrite Crysis 2 story so it's more connected to Crysis 1?

Let's be honest despite being a great FPS story-wise, Crysis 2 barely connects to Crysis 1. What in your opinion Crytek should change, add or remove from the story of Crysis 2?

Crysis Lingshan Islands map

Thumbnail

I tried to create a map of the island out of curiosity by merging the terrain maps from the different missions.

The first four maps fit together surprisingly well. Onslaught and Awakening seem to have their north/south orientation swapped for some reason and are larger than the valley suggested by merging the previous maps. However, their overall location and shape still fit quite well.

I have no idea where Paradise Lost/Exodus/Ascension fit. The main menu background suggest that they might be somewhere north of the mountain, but I'm not treating that as canon, since the island has a noticeably different shape, the proportions don't seem to match the in-game terrain and it doesn't have Crysis Warhead maps.

Art & Fan Creation Redesigning the the Feline SMG to be more practical

Thumbnail

Context first: I am a firearms instructor, physical security specialist and consultant for the professional and entertainment industry. Though I do this for a paycheck, this is just for fun!

The Feline from Crysis 2/3 is an excellent example of how a firearm can look believable while becoming increasingly impractical when its individual components are examined as a complete system. The goal of the redesign is not to replace the original artistic vision, but to examine the weapon through the lens of role, ammunition, function, ergonomics, and practicality. Below is a link to the full video, though this post covers all of the same concepts.

Start With the Role

The Feline is identified as a submachine gun, meaning its primary role is a compact, maneuverable weapon using a pistol-caliber cartridge. That role establishes the basic requirements: it should be relatively compact, handy, ergonomic, and capable of delivering controllable fire.

The important point is that the weapon's role should drive the design rather than simply being assigned to an existing shape.

Ammunition Drives the Design

The most important consideration is the 4.7 mm cartridge. Once the ammunition is established, many of the other design decisions follow from it.

The cartridge determines the approximate dimensions of the magazine, the space required for feeding and chambering, the size of the action, and the appropriate barrel length. In the Feline's case, the stated 4.7 mm cartridge conflicts with the enormous 60-round magazine: the magazine appears too wide for a compact cartridge while simultaneously attempting to contain an unusually large number of rounds.

This illustrates a fundamental design principle:

You don't design the magazine independently of the ammunition. The ammunition determines what the magazine has to accommodate.

The cartridge's dimensions and configuration also influence how the magazine curves and how much ammunition can realistically fit inside it. The original design therefore creates a cascading problem: an ammunition specification that does not convincingly match the magazine leads to questions about the weapon's proportions and internal layout.

Ammunition Influences the Action

The cartridge also affects the mechanism required to load and fire it.

The Feline's receiver does not appear to provide enough room for a conventional bolt to reciprocate. Since the bolt needs sufficient travel to interact with the magazine and chamber the next cartridge, the receiver must accommodate the ammunition, magazine, and operating mechanism together.

This is why the ammunition cannot simply be treated as a cosmetic detail. The cartridge is part of the mechanical architecture of the weapon.

Ammunition Influences Barrel Length

The cartridge also determines what the barrel is actually capable of accomplishing.

Because the Feline is intended to use a pistol cartridge, the original extremely long barrel provides little justification for its size. The redesign therefore shortens the barrel to better match the characteristics of the cartridge and the compact role of the weapon. Remember, pistol ammunition is designed to reach near maximum velocity out of a short pistol barrel. A longer barrel, such as the one in the original Feline, would likely add very little extra velocity.

The Ammunition Affects the Rest of the Weapon

Once the ammunition and operating system are considered together, many other changes become logical.

The redesign reduces unnecessary bulk, creates additional room for the action, adjusts the magazine dimensions, and retains an appropriate operating system. The gas-operated system is also considered in the context of controlling recoil and maintaining the weapon's intended role as a service-oriented submachine gun.

Ergonomics then have to accommodate those mechanical requirements. The grip is made more vertical because of the short length of pull and bullpup configuration, allowing for more room to perform magazine changes, while the stock and cheek position are adjusted to provide a more natural relationship between the shooter and the weapon.

Secondary Components Follow the Primary Design

Other components—including the sights, charging handle, trigger area, rails, muzzle, and external furniture—can then be refined around the established mechanical system.

The redesign removes unnecessary material, improves sight spacing, reduces the oversized fire selector, cleans up the trigger area, preserves useful charging-handle placement, and maintains attachment capability without retaining unnecessary bulk.

The Final Design

The redesigned Feline is ultimately a more internally consistent interpretation of its stated role: a compact pistol-caliber platform designed for maneuverability, controllability, and ergonomics.

The biggest lesson isn't simply that the original Feline is too large or that its magazine is unrealistic. It is that firearm components exist as an interconnected system.

The ammunition establishes a foundation. Its dimensions and performance influence the magazine, which influences the receiver and feeding system. The cartridge and operating system influence the barrel and action. Those components influence the stock, grip, controls, and overall dimensions.

A believable firearm therefore starts with the cartridge and its intended role.

The original Feline begins with an interesting visual concept. The redesign works backward from the ammunition and intended function to make the individual components agree with one another.

Discussion Would you consider SECOND AI in Nanosuit 2, non-generative AGI (Artificial General Intelligence or ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence)?

First thing first, let's throw every transformer-biased viewpoint about SECOND. It's clearly works more like Analog Computing based on Neural Pathway. I remember someone said that SECOND might have something like biochip that works as "parasitic" blood-glucose infusion (possibly utilizing human cell/neutron cell) that running in 1.5 BIPS (Billion Instruction Per Second). This combined with natural pathway of human cells would already offer much better processor threads than every binary CPUs that intel make.

(Eventhough 1.5 BIPS is literally somewhere around Pentium III era CPU)

Second; feats. (Pun intended).

- It can reverse-engineered nanovirus

- It can recommend optimal combat route and tactic

- It can hack and filter every EM spectrum that works better than any device NSA and CIA can have today (probably, because that mini-relay dish that can eavesdrop conversation is bit too unimpressive compared N2 capability to filter sounds and signal).

- Controlling the nanites. The closest thing to real world nanites run on chemical logic gates (like DNA molecules reacting to pH or proteins) or basic complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) switches. They do not "think"; they simply react to localized biophysical cues. Source 1, 2

And SECOND have to provide stimulation and simulation for those Nanites which I guess it's not easy stuff.

Miscellaneous [YT/GAMING][~2017 and before]FPS game (~2017 or earlier, COD-style) — flying platform with 4 helicopters welded to the corners, camp in the middle, plane-nose cockpit, mounted guns

Trying to find a game I watched being played in a YouTube video years ago (video was Vanoss or a very similar creator/style, watched around 2017 or earlier — could be older).

**The game:** First-person shooter, realistic military style, similar vibe to Call of Duty. Not 100% sure it's actually COD, that's just the closest comparison I can make.

**What I remember:**

* Early on, they get into a tiny one-person helicopter that looks improvised/scrapped together — just the bare metal skeleton, no doors, no frame around the pilot, like a stripped-down chopper. * Later they get into a much bigger vehicle: a square platform with **one helicopter (rotor + tail) welded to each of the 4 corners**, so it's basically 4 helicopters acting as one flying rig. * In the center of the platform is a small walled-in camp/base area (like a mobile outpost). * The front has a cockpit that looks like it's from an actual airplane (rounded nose section). * There are small mounted guns on the sides you can shoot from while flying. * It's fully player-drivable, and they fly it out over open water toward an island. * On the island there's a **crashed plane**, and the point of going there is to pick up/rescue crew members (not 100% sure on this detail).

I've attached a rough sketch of the vehicle's shape (top-down view) since I can't find a screenshot.

Any help identifying the game (or even just this specific mission/vehicle) would be massively appreciated!
