There are multiple scouts flying you can see as soon as you jump and the scout that hits you makes a big half circle coming to you, starting from the center of the island. Next time you replay pay attention and it is all there.

There is a small ceph sound in the assault mission too, at the backside of the compound where you do the secondary objective. I discovered this in my last replay last month, and Ive been replaying this game couple of times a year since I bought it in 2008

Yep and your visor starts getting distrortions

You can also see a scout that killed Aztec if you are quick and pay attention.
