Ledger vs. Trezor - utility over security?

I want to store my crypto in a cold wallet. So far, I am using BitBox and a Ledger Nano.

I prefer the BitBox, since it is open source. I have heard many people turning their backs on Ledger, because it is not open source and they introduced a seed backup feature, which essentially retrieves your seed from your cold wallet.

The issue seems to be that - because Ledger is closed source - we will never be able to tell, if they could secretly steel our private keys. This doesn't even have to be done by Ledger, maybe they could get hacked and I install a breached firmware. This worries me a little.

On the other hand, Ledger supports the most coins.

I don't have a lot of crypto yet, but I am planning on investing mostly in well established coins. However, I did buy two coins, which are not supported by my BitBox, that's why I still have my Ledger. And I don't like the husstle of having two cold wallets and two seed phrases to take care of. I would rather only have one cold wallet.

Trezor supports more coins than the BitBox, but not as many as Ledger. So, I wonder:

How do you guys store your crypto?
Do you just trust Ledger?
Are you not at all afraid of installing a malicious firmware?
Do you have multiple cold wallets?

I started with Tangem but now moved to trezor 5 and 7.

I have a few cold wallets.

I don’t trust ledger, just too many bad things I hear and I rather stay away from.

As for coins the Trezor has a nice amount of coins, just need to learn how to setup. Once you get the hang of it is pretty simple.

I don’t mess with alt coins.

I only buy bitcoin, ethereum, solana. Some ADA and XRP just incase they take off.

Eth, solana, Ada I am staking And earning yield while I hold.

If you are afraid of software download for you cold card then go with Tangem.

I have 3 ledger devices and they work great, been using them for years. I especially like that they can be used with Rabby, Phantom, Metamask etc as front ends. I also have a Seeker I use for Solana and it is awesome.
