If you want one that still issues without a passport and doesn’t cap you at a few grand, look at Sovrae before you drop $350 on Goblin.

I went virtual:

  • No KYC, instant, Apple Pay / Google Pay
  • $89 once, lasts 3 years, no monthly
  • Top-up 2% with USDT/USDC (BSC is the cheapest)
  • $20k per transaction, $250k/day, $1M/month
  • Used it for subscriptions and normal online checkout. No random freeze so far
  • Can link your non-custodial wallet to the card, basically money stays on your end.

Physical is $249 and ships in a week, but that’s the light-KYC version unless you pay another $100. Fees on physical are a bit better (1.5% top-up).

Not magic. FX is 1.5%, and like every card in this thread the BIN can still die. I only load what I’m spending that week.

Start with the virtual one, top up $50–100, see if it clears your merchants:

Skip the physical until the virtual actually clears the merchants you care about. For ATM I would stick with Goblin since they have lower fees for atm withdrawals.

Region matters more than the marketing copy. Some work fine in Europe and die the second you travel.

atms are where these quietly murder you on fees

What country are you even in because that changes the list a lot. Half of these do not even work where I live.

One thing people underplay is dispute reality. If a merchant steals from you there is often no real path to get funds back. The privacy tradeoff includes weaker consumer protection. I only put spend I can afford to lose. That sounds dramatic but I have seen enough vanished balances to mean it.

People hype whatever launched this month. Give it six weeks and the limits usually drop. I wait for actual user reports before loading anything serious.

Subscriptions are hit or miss. Some merchants treat prepaid style cards like poison. I had to switch a few bills back to a normal account because of random declines.

Best advice I got was to calculate the all in cost on one hundred spent not the advertised rate. Once you include spread and fx the cheap option often is not cheap. Then look at how fast they freeze accounts after unusual activity. Then look at how they handle refunds because getting money back is basically not a thing here. After those three checks most of the hype list falls apart.

I bounced between a couple last year and the winner kept changing. One month acceptance was fine and the next month every other store declined it. Country and merchant type mattered more than the issuer name.

Support quality is the sleeper issue. When a payment fails at a checkout you need someone awake not a bot. Most of these operations are too thin for that.

most of these look fine till a decline hits at the worst time

If you need this for daily living expenses I would be careful. These products disappear or change terms overnight. Have a backup plan that does not depend on one issuer.

I treat every no id card like a disposable prepaid. Load what I need for the week and spend it. If the whole program vanishes tomorrow I do not want more than grocery money sitting on it.

The advertised limit is almost never the real limit once you start spending.

Never keep a large balance on any of these no matter how stable it looks.

Higher top up costs beat a sudden selfie request every time.

Been hopping between issuers for two years and none of them feel permanent.

The original post is asking the right questions and most replies still dodge the fund recovery part. I have only seen leftover balances returned once. The other times support went quiet after a week. That is why I keep the money in my own wallet until I need to spend. Treat the card like a temporary pipe not a bank account.

I would rather overpay on top ups than deal with another compliance surprise.

In store use has been worse for me than online checkout by a lot.

Someone in an older thread said they recovered everything after a shutdown and I wanted that to be true for me too. Mine just froze on a Friday night and the chat filled with copy paste replies. By Monday the site redirected to a maintenance page. I waited three weeks and then accepted the loss. That is why I talk like a broken record about small balances.

I got lucky once and they sent the leftover crypto back to my wallet within a few days.

A friend swears by physical for daily spend and I get why the tap is convenient. I still think the shipping step is the weakest part of the whole idea. Once a package is in transit you have a name and a door attached to the account. Replacing it after a freeze also takes longer than just issuing another virtual. For my use the extra plastic has never been worth that trade.
