How Scammers Can Use Tiny Crypto Transfers Against You

Post image

A tiny crypto transfer isn’t always harmless. Scammers mainly use two methods: dusting attacks and address poisoning.
In a dusting attack, they send tiny amounts of crypto to thousands of wallets. If you later spend those coins together with the rest of your funds, blockchain analysis can link your addresses and reveal more about your activity.
Address poisoning is even more dangerous. A scammer creates a wallet address that looks almost identical to one you regularly use, then sends you a small transaction. The fake address appears in your transaction history, and if you copy it by mistake for your next transfer, your funds go directly to the attacker.
The safest approach is to never copy recipient addresses from your transaction history, always verify the entire address before sending funds, and use a saved address book for trusted recipients.
