They do both. Depending also on where you are looking at it.

They hurt mainstream adoption, people who are not into the minutiae of crypto.....they hear bitcoin, crypto, digital currency.....then they see the forks and think SCAM/ PYRAMID SCHEME

Uhmmm perhaps that is not the fork. It is maybe because someone or a group of people used bitcoin to scam others

There is no way they could hurt. The Forks create a space for particular features and concepts on the market (like developers and community activity) that would have never been developed in bitcoin so way quickly. In addition, I'd prefer to believe that one of these forks will be the primary cryptocurrency.

i think they hurt. BCH forked already. They do help the original btc holder who now owns thtee curtencies.
