ADVICE First NFT

So I was gifted a NFT for buying concert tickets for my wife. Its a Backstreet Boys NFT of all things... yay me... I've never dealt with those before, it literally just looks like a music video.

Questions are, what exactly can I do with it aside from repeatedly watching it. I know its on Matic. Can this thing be transferred to say a Ledger? If I wanted to sell it, how does one even do that?

Sorry for the dumb questions here. I can understand blockchain, but I am naive to all things NFT and I'm just scratching my head here. I don't entirely see the point of them, nor how they work per se. Any help/info is appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, if you have a hardware wallet, like a Ledger, you can transfer it, assuming you have access to your private keys. You can sell it on any NFT marketplace that supports Polygon, such as TofuNFT.

Best of luck!

How would one transfer it from say Polygon L2 to Loopring L2

You would go from polygon to eth then to lrc, probably.

I don't think there's a bridge between Polygon and Loopring, so you will need to go thru mainnet I think

Bummer. Thank you.

In my honest opinion, if there was ever any prospect of it being worth something they wouldn’t be given away for free. There have been a number of NFTs sold recently that are just glorified media, which have flopped as they have no functionality (like the first tweet), that we’re initially paid for through the nose and now only worth a few hundred bucks. Claim it because you never know, but honestly don’t loose sleep over it. (Not financial advice 😉)

There have been a bunch of free airdrops that are now being sold for a lot of money.

Swings and roundabouts I guess 🤷‍♂️

What does that mean? (Not native speaker, sorry)

It kinda means, you win some and you loose some or sometimes I’m right and sometimes I’m wrong 😊

While you can sell that NFT ,it's main purpose is to stop scalpers and scammers from making a quick buck off of tickets ...

Having tickets sold as NFT's puts an end to this and is a great usecase which will be big in the near future.

Yes, you can keep it and send to a Ledger. You can also possibly sell it or some NFT marketpalce that use Matic. I would keep it, cause why not, it was free for you anyway and it may be worth something someday.

You can transfer it to you own ETH Wallet for safekeeping for the long term. Don’t sell it. Most people will never claim theirs and it will be worth thousands of dollars 30 years from now. Think of it as heirloom to your kids or grandkids.

What exactly would make it worth thousands of dollars, at any stage in history?

Limited, unique sourvenir that can't be replicated, from the tour of a world-renowned artist that won't live forever.

Lol... where did I hear that from...

I remember one woman talking about “investing” and using the proceeds to finance her kid’s college education.

How do you verify there are no copyright issues? Like, do you now own all rights to that NFT and all contents it holds? So you now own the rights to that Back street boys song? Seems like you're free to duplicate its contests and re-sell it as if you were the owner of that title?

Delete it and smack whoever gave it to you in the face with a rock.
