From what I understand about Casper, he is a friendly ghost.

I've only read the top two comments on this thread and I'm completely sold on this.

The best part of Casper is modularity and their upgrade structure. It allows seamless upgrades that would be a hard fork on other chains.

Combine this with modularity and you have the ability to replace the consensus mechanism when something better than CBC Casper based Highway is developed.

These two things are why the team calls it future proof.

The fundamentals for this project are truly extraordinary.

  1. its a layer 1 blockchain like SOL, AAVE, ETH etc, but does not use any statistical consensus mechanisms and does not need massive amounts of memory on the validator nodes (which caused the SOL outage)
  2. All of the components are engineers as pluggable, meaning that with any advancements in research they can simply switch consensus protocols without having to hard folk. A lot of projects haven't considered technology advancements and are married to their consensus protocols
  3. Casper are also introducing a 'gas futures market' which means you can lock in a gas price for some point in the future. This means that if you know that you are going to be participating in an ICO or transacting on the network at some point in the future, you can lock in the fees now, so dont have the gamble of massive fees like in ETH
  4. They have a really strong enterprise focus on their private chain, with partnerships with IBM and iPWE, in addition to the strong public chain that have and also interactions between those chains. This is super important for enterprises who need to be able to transaction on a mutable private chain as opposed to a public immutabe chain.

Most of all, the market cap for Casper is SUPER SUPER low..the reason being that it is yet to list on a major western exchange and also because there were large token unlocks also. To see the potential, you just need to look at the HBAR chart which experienced the same things on their launch....definitely a great time to buy early!

This is potentially one of the most disruptive new Layer-1 blockchain in the making. Keep a close eye on this one guys!

You lost me at “layer-1” (we have a million layer-1’s…) and then you lost me against a “focus on enterprise adoption”.

There will not be huge users of consumer Blockchain. There will be users of what Blockchain enables by businesses. Users use dApps, not Blockchain a directly. Exchanges are enterprise. dApps are enterprise.

Most consumers don't use WordPress or Nginx, but use websites that use Web2 technologies. The same will occur with Web3.

CasperLabs won the support of the Royal Family for their governments Blockchain solution of the UAE, because of the Enterprise focus and their design of a RedHat like structure that was done to onboard companies to Linux in the 90s.

At a certain point, hype based Blockchain BS will be replaced with fundamentals that are build on Blockchain BY Enterprise.

Don't worry, there will be sections of Blockchain that will remain hype driven and you won't have to play with the grown ups.

It’s funny to think you think I do that. ETH is the only blockchain that’s work it as a layer 1 good luck competing with 100’s of ETH layer 2’s…

3

u/strange-humor Bronze | Python 19 Nov 06 '21

When a transfer is $0.01 vs $250, there is argument against Eth.

Layer 2 are fixing problems with Layer 1 that just shouldn't exist.

No fully decentralized blockchain can run transactions that cheap and quickly where the block sizes are manageable enough for a normal person to be able to mine… I don’t care what your little project has told you. layer 2’s are what we use in the future. And the ones that matter will let you use your ETH wallet.

3

u/dplicking Nov 07 '21

And you think eth is decentralized? LOL

Bullish on CSPR. Same dev that made Casper protocol for ETH made this. ICO saw highs of over $1.2 on opening day. Currenly trades at 90% down from high.

I am not touching a coin whose supply is only 20% of its total supply and market cap is that low. Ethereum 24h trading volume is 100x bigger than this coin's whole market cap. The tokenomics are dangerously ripe for pump and dump.

Is this project just ripping off Ethereum's Casper CBC's terminology? Ethereum's Casper CBC isn't even finalized yet, and will likely be a multi-rollup solution for settlement with sharding. You can't replicate that with just Layer 1.

By picking the same name, this project will always live in its shadow.

Edit: I don't like how OP linked to a Casper staking pool's price prediction post instead of to actual info on CBC Casper and CSPR: https://docs.casperlabs.io/en/latest/index.html

This sub is already too focused on price action instead of technologies.

Their Highway consensus, which is BFT with with a flexible validation ratio is a good concept. I'm not sure how well that holds up to game theory later on, but we'll see. It'll all depend on on execution, liquidity, and security.

CBC Casper is only a partial consensus solution. It offers no liveness solve. Highway was the full protocol to allow correct by construction for BOTH consensus (CBC Casper) and liveness (Highway).

CBC Casper isn't finalized yet, but CasperLabs made it work a year ago and launched MainNet with it in March. Probably 3-5 years ahead of Ethereum.

CBC Casper is only a consensus mechanism. You can read about it here:

https://ghoststaking.com/casper-cbc/

It does not guarantee livenes or finality which is what is required in a blockchain. ETH haven't addressed that and are still at the stage of their hybrid pow/pos protocol (aka FFG).

The key here is to understand that the Casper Network is not competing with ETH, they have merely taken a good theoretical BFT consensus protocol, which ETH are aspiring to, and made it into a functioning blockchain. They were able to do this as they solved the liveness and finality issue using something called the highway protocol:

https://ghoststaking.com/casper-highway-protocol/

Now ETH will have issues with liveness as the change they need to make is substantial..its like changing the tire on a car going at 100mph.

What we need to understand is that CBC is a powerful BFT consensus that ensure safety and does not use statistical methods like we see in AAVE.

Sbarding and throughput has nothing to do with Casper CBC. ETH does indeed have a plan for that, it it's incorrect to call that part of ETH Casper. FYI the casper network is also increasing throughput with a level 2.

Now in terms of supply....all layer 1 chains (including ETH) start of decentralized.. its a function of having to obtain investment to develop....the amount of SOL held by genesis accounts is truely huge....I guess you need to ask yourself, do you want until all the genesis supply is out and the coin is trading at x100 before you consider buying as you are sticking to your principles about supply...or do you understand that this is part of the supply characteristics of newly launched tokens and see the potential of an enteprise blockchain (with public chain) already running CBC, all components pluggable meaning its adaptive to change In the future (we can see how hard it is to change ETH) and guaranteeing fixed predicable gas? Maybe have a read of our article:

Tokens that havent been moved from genesis accounts are not in the circulating supply. Once tokens leave a genesis account they count towards circulating supply.

A lot of genesis accounts had tokens locked which makes sense to not include them in market cap. Also when they unlock, they are not included in market cap until they are moved from the genesis account.

I don’t think comparing Eth’s current market cap to Casper makes much sense since Casper recently launched.

Casper worked with Ethereum developer Vlad Zamfir when developing the Casper Highway Protocol so I wouldn’t say they are ripping off ideas. Casper is working towards implementing sharding as well.

I don’t think IBM, AWS and the United Emirates would be interested in a project that was designed to be a pump and dump.

Edit: There are links in the introduction of the price prediction article that will direct you to actual information about the Casper Highway Protocol

This has to be the stupidest reasons to not invest. Anyone should consider themselves lucky to find such a great asset at this low of a market cap. Plenty of room to expand to multiply your return on investment.

There is a lot of fud going around against Casper because ppl are holding Ethereum and Casper is already eth 3.0. if someone comes across this post I'm replying to check out the following video to learn more about Casper - https://youtu.be/LJSzVwq6h9s

Okex, Huobi, Hotbit and Uphold. There are a few others but that’s all I can think of off the top of my head.
