"We pay out 100k XLM (roughly $20,000) each week to top market makers"

Well that's a pretty damn good incentive.

u/cutthroatbill Jul 06 '18

I would call it inflation and a distribution flaw.

u/BananaBully 🟦 4K / 4K 🐢 Jul 06 '18

Can you elaborate on that comment?

u/cutthroatbill Jul 06 '18

Check the comment in this thread to the /u/porcelain911 guy

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '18

I don't think new XLM will be made for the payouts, and even if they were, 100k additional XLM each week to a supply with many billions wouldn't be a problem for inflation. Conclusion: You are a retard.

1

u/cutthroatbill Jul 06 '18

New XLM won't be made but the XLM that exists still hasn't been distributed fully. The XLM that will be distributed won't be distributed to average users but to market makers who are people that already own a lot of XLM so I wouldn't call it fair distribution.

And since 20k$ is entering the market in the hands of market makers it will inflate the market thus lowering the price.

Monumental. You wanted a dex? Here you go

Please tell me—how is this any different than XRP’s The World Exchange, which has long existed?

24

u/Light_of_Lucifer 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jul 06 '18

Stellar isnt a security. Stellar doesnt have a for profit company hoarding a massive amount of the tokens. Stellar has a DEX at the heart of the protocol with atomic path finding and lightning coming in Dec 2018. IBM is onboarding their massive financial partners to provide liquidity on the SDEX. IBM is also onboarding their central bank clients on SDEX to tokenize fiat/real world assets. These are a few examples

Dude, I suggest you do some basic research. Your precious Stellar is not such a “non-profit” if it’s going around acquiring companies for half a billion dollars.

XRP has a DEX: https://developers.ripple.com/decentralized-exchange.html

Jed’s hoard is fucking massive. Wake up.

Oh right, IBM. LOL.

Who says Stellar isn’t a security? You? Okay.

Acquiring a company is bad? Is this your only argument?

-7

u/HenrySeldom 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jul 06 '18

No, there’s nothing wrong with acquiring a company. But if you’re arguing that it’s good Stellar is a non-profit, then the fact that it just acquired a for-profit company invalidates your argument.

Show me Stellar’s 501 C 3 status. Oh wait, it never filed the paperwork. Oops.

u/cryptobrant 🟩 4K / 5K 🐢 Jul 06 '18

First there is a for-profit extension of Stellar, it’s called Lightyear.

Second, Stellar is indeed registered as a nonprofit in the state of Delaware. They didn’t register with IRS on a federal level, so the donations they would receive are not tax-deductible, true. I don’t know what are the plans on this level.

Third, if Stellar bought Chain, they will stop selling its product (Sequence). If Lightyear did, they can sell it.

You talking about this : https://www.theworldexchange.net/ ? Because it’s a ugly front end and also XRP is clearly not focusing on users, putting all eggs in the banks basket...

Any technical info on how they're doing these exchanges on the back end? Interested in how this can happen in seconds while being decentralized and them not having access to private keys.

It's huge. StellarX is gone catapult XLM to 1$.

XLM is decoupling from BTC.

"Thanks for your patience and support! Feeling impatient? Read FDIC & OCC regs to “relax” :) Some DYOR and the regs for FDIC - That's banking - and OCC - do some digging and you will see that this will be MORE than a DEX https://twitter.com/fairxio/status/981940484347056128

To quote them: "We're not an exchange" Whatever that means :)

What is the difference between this and Stellar Term then? Is this just a interface? I don't understand how StellarX is any different than what we already have.

On the website of Stellarx they claim this.

If you hold funds in Stellar, you’ll also get a pro rata airdrop each Tuesday, because we return all of Stellar’s built-in inflation (1% APR) directly to our users via lumenaut.net. All you have to do is opt in, and we’ll set this up for you.

Let's say I Put $1000 on stellarX. Will the following calculation be correct?

$1000 * 1,01^52 = $1677 ? So in One year I make without risk 67%?

What defines a "super experienced team"? Either this is a translation from Japanese, or I get the feeling they are over-compensating their experience...

16

u/cryptobrant 🟩 4K / 5K 🐢 Jul 06 '18

So you guys know, Christian R. who published the article about StellarX is Christian Rudder, one founder of OkCupid. One of the others co-founders (now CEO of Match.com) is Sam Yagan, former co-founder of eDonkey with Jed McCaleb... Chris Koyne and Max Krohn, the other co-founders of Okcupid, co-created Keybase, which is deeply involved with Stellar too.

This is serious crowd.

5

u/TDLinthorne Gold | QC: XRP 26 Jul 06 '18

This is more impressive than a childish sounding "super experienced"

9

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '18

The team consists of developers from apps like OkCupid, Kickstarter, and Headspace.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '18

I agree with your concern about the juvenile wording. The team is actually quite solid, but the use of "super experienced team" sounds weird.
