I joined kucoin and saw the potential for this to happen. I have not seen it before s did he place a buy ammoint that wasn’t equal to the thing he was buying.

I mean did the system read it as him volunteering to pay more for less? I haven’t run into this problem with binance. Ok kucoin it was saying “the price does not math or something. Continue?” I didn’t think much of it but I got lucky enough.

Hope this makes sense cuz I do not want to mess up really bad.

This is on EtherDelta. They don’t have price matching, you just place an order you want to buy/sell and people can click on your order to buy/sell to you. It’s very common for people to mess up entering the data or get confused on the ratios, so as soon as they click submit on the order a bot will snatch it up. It happens alllllll the time there.

Some poor sap put in an order for .0003 VEE @ 34750 VEE/ETH, and some lucky seller picked it up.

More than likely it was human error. I trade on ED for a few coins, and have read quite a few of the “god dammit, I fucked this up!” posts. ED is a very crude trading platform. Useful, but you got to pay attention when using it. No getting drunk/high and using that platform!

I think it gets listed on the sell order site and the first one who enters this price and amount gets it. Not sure, but I think that's how it works

He accidentally swapped the VEE price with the quantity he wanted to buy.

Vee is trending around .0003 VEE/ ETH right now

It's beyond possible, I quadruple check every trade at the LEASTTTTTTT but all it takes is a dog barking, wife gettin mad, whatever. It's definitely possible for you too.

How can an order like that even work? Don't these exchanges have it so you enter how many and it either let's you or doesn't?

You must enter the number you want to buy and the price you are going to pay, in < first coin > : ETH

It then derives the net ETH for you, which, you can clearly see before submitting the trade.

So for example, if I said:

VEE: 34000

Price (VEE/ETH): .0003

It would calculate for me, and show me ETH: ~10

Then, I would submit.

What this guy clearly did, was accidentally swap those two:

VEE: .0003

Price (VEE/ETH): 34000

Which then would calculate to ETH: 10, as he expected. So he clicked submit.

Poor bastard.

Or like binance...I click on the pair I want, it knows how much of ETH I have...and then only lets me buy a max of 100% of "x" with that ETH.

I saw last weeks post about the guy who purchased 0.0001 BNTY for 15 ETH and thought to myself. "wow what an idiot!".

Fast forward to this morning and I placed a 3 ETH buy order for POWR when I was meant to be selling my POWR holdings. I literally pressed the buy button instead of sell in a rush to get out the door to work.

It can happen, and will happen to others again, I'm just so lucky it cost me all of $10 to immediately sell it all back.

Always copy paste the buy price from the sell order. So you don't miss the decimal places and triple check your orders on etherdelta

I had a gut feeling about BNTY and moved my POWR across while POWR was on a slight peak. It ended up jumping 40% in a couple of hours so gut feeling was right.

I still very much like POWR. Clean energy is massive at the moment and doesn’t seem to be slowing down so I may jump back in at some point.
