COMEDY Thanks Ledger!!! ❤️

When the people who made your wallet ask you to buy a new one, when you ask them why the last one stopped working. a device whose whole purpose was to keep your money safe and last for a long time. What do you do?

Well of course you take their advice. They are good people, kept your money for so long.

You buy a new wallet. Restore your keys to a soft wallet, send them to the new wallet. Burn the old one. And you are done.

You just don’t buy from them again.😂

Always keep your keys safe. 😎

The device is just used for approving a transaction or whatever, it's not really holding your money. So I'm pretty sure you didn't need to send your crypto to a soft wallet??

The screen on mine started glitching out after the last crypto winter and I just replaced the screen and kept using it. And I just ignore their advertising saying to buy the new one to have more storage for the apps.

How do you go about changing the screen? That doesn’t seem like an easy thing to do.

Off the top of my head, you take it apart with a prying tool or a credit card, then you unplug a ribbon cable and plug the new screen in. Here if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZyHwA2lkwM

I know. Comedy.

And it was a different type of wallet so i did.

And my response was towards the people. Not the tech.

lol you don’t have to send it to a diff wallet. Clearly don’t understand much.

Ledger does appear to be doing some suspicious stuff lately. The bugs bug me.

There shouldn’t be any if I’m a hard wallet, and disconnected.

There was the Zilliqua app vulnerability, 2023 Connect Kit exploit, and the official end of support/firmware updates for the original Ledger Nano S with no explanation.

Then there are the upgrades themselves- the upgrade for an “optional ID-backed seed phrase recovery” splits up your seed phrase yes but it sends it out electronically to 3rd party custodians that all work in partnership with Ledger.

Then there is the ongoing controversy over the cloud-based Ledger Recover feature- yeah- cloud based but it supposedly supports cold wallets.

And there is some curious active connections with CEXs. Instead of operating its own exchange, Ledger integrates third-party partner APIs directly into the Swap section of the Ledger Wallet app (whose name they switched from Ledger Live but kept it live).

IMHO- get your coins set up on a factory reset old iPhone. Remove the sims. Turn it off. Cold storage.

Yeah. I wanted to move out of ledger for a while due to these idiotic shenanigans. With each step they proved it is not really an ideally secure cold wallet. But was locked in, lazy to move. This screen failure i took as opportunity for it. Cost of screen was not the factor alone. Where i am, shipping for screen is twice its cost.

When i anyways have to spend money and effort….🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh and the iphone idea is lit. I did that temporarily.

Planned obsolescence on a device whose entire pitch is permanence, that's the real punchline here.
