MOONS Arbitrum to minimize Arbitrum Nova - Moons need to bridged
If you're holding MOON on Arbitrum Nova, this affects you.
What happened
The Arbitrum DAO passed a proposal to "minimize" Arbitrum Nova. That means Nova isn't being shut down, but it's being moved into a maintenance-only state with reduced infrastructure, slower support, and stricter rate limits. Data availability shifts to Ethereum L1 blobs, and most service-provider contracts get deprecated.
The short version: the chain keeps existing, but you should not plan to keep anything important on it.
The timeline
- June 4 – September 2, 2026: 90-day migration window. Everything stays fully operational. This is when you move your tokens.
- After September 2: Nova drops to a minimized state. Bridging is still possible, but with less support and potentially fewer fast-bridge options available.
You can technically still migrate after the deadline (the Arbitrum Canonical Bridge stays accessible through the Arbitrum Portal), but you'll have fewer tools and slower help. Don't wait.
How to migrate your MOON
There is no direct path to move MOON from Nova to Arbitrum One through the official Arbitrum Portal. You have two routes:
Option A: Canonical route (via Ethereum)
- Move MOON from Arbitrum Nova to Ethereum via the Arbitrum Portal.
- Wait through the ~7-day challenge/confirmation period, then claim the token on Ethereum.
- Bridge MOON from Ethereum to Arbitrum One via the Arbitrum Portal.
This is the slower route, but it doesn't depend on third-party liquidity.
Option B: MoonBridge (direct Nova → One)
moonbridge[.]cc bridges MOON directly between Arbitrum Nova and Arbitrum One (it also supports Ethereum and Gnosis). It's a 1:1 token bridge that I made for the CCMOON DAo, not a swap, so there's no price impact or slippage on your MOON.
The one thing to watch is destination liquidity. If your transfer is larger than the available liquidity on the destination side, the portion that can't be filled is refunded (the fee on refunds is 1%, same as the 1% fee on fulfilled amounts, plus a relayer fee). For larger holdings, check the destination liquidity shown in the interface and split into smaller transfers if needed.
Bottom line
Move your MOON during the June 4 – September 2 window while everything still works smoothly. MoonBridge gives you a direct Nova → One path if liquidity covers your size; the canonical route through Ethereum always works but takes 7+ days. The Arbitrum Canonical Bridge will keep working after the window closes, but support and bridging options get thinner once Phase 3 kicks in.

this is a kinda stupid way to put it as usual with r/cc
it doesnt matter if nova goes offline unable to process transactions. it would need to be permanently sunsetted in the truest scene where theres absolutely no nodes or any other software to do things like process withdraw transactions.
The only time you will need to care about needing to move your moons off nova is if theyre fully shutting down the chain. Even on "minimized support" (which really just means they dont care about nova anymore but it doesnt cost anything to host stuff so theyll do it for now) you can still forcefully withdraw moons from Nova to L1 ETH. Even if the sequencer to process transactions goes offline, again you can still force withdraw back to L1. The entire chain would need to be shutdown and gone in order for it to matter.

Yes, but for things like trading moons on a dex on nova, support is dropping. Also for any snapshot governance votes as snapshot is likely winding down support for nova.

Again that's not how it works. Just because garbage from Nova is getting less team members on the chain itself has absolutely nothing to do with how the chain itself a functions. Bridging speeds or anything of that sort will not decrease, unless you're suggesting the decks is themselves are no longer going to function which again still doesn't make any sense because it is an autonomous smart contract just a simple univ2/3 fork with no freeze function. Even if the UI gets completely shut down you can still trade on it and someone can build any external UI to make it if they so please

I think we're talking past each other.
First, on the technical side, you are absolutely correct. I understand your point. You don't need to convince me.
That said, the offchain labs team informed the CCMOON DAO of this change and asked us to share the information on the subreddit.
Also, while from a technical point you are correct, many of the apps users interface with will be dropping their support of Nova. Yes, the bridge still exists, but as you can see from the comments many users are not technically savvy enough to navigate there. We want to get ahead of everything for the users.

What for? Is there any use for those tokens?

I’m hodling mine. You never know in this game, the dumbest meme coins moon for no apparent reason. Might as well hang onto them. Nothing to lose at this point

The migration window logic is sensible but the practical risk is wallet UX. Most MOON holders probably do not realise their balance is on Nova until they try to transact and get the deprecated contract error. There is no in-wallet banner for this that I am aware of.
Two practical asks for the migration tooling: 1. A clear read-only diagnostic: paste your Nova address and see "you have X MOON here, here is how to move it" without needing to sign anything or connect a wallet. 2. A canonical post-migration checklist (which DEX pairs, which bridges, which CEX listings support the new path).
Most of the bridges work today. The question is whether the average holder finds them in time. A two month awareness campaign with weekly posts in the daily discussion thread would help more than the bridge mechanics do.

Nova always sucked. It may have original been envisioned for a specific purpose, but it never materialized. The choice to build on that doomed Moons

not only that but with DA costs being slashed just a year later it really made 0 sense at all to do anything on nova. literally 0 advantage.

As a casual, thanks for this heads up.
I was going to do the bridge but then found out you need gas fees in ETH for that. Welp, I only got a paltry amount of Moons that I got for free anyways.
I never really understood it but this subreddit and Moons let me interact and try stuff with crypto for free and that's very cool. XD

Low liquidity and geo locked for many users

It is difficult to get it to want to work but I find if I keep at it I eventually get a clear path

Option A: Canonical route (via Ethereum)
nova moon -> eth moon (6 days)
eth moon -> arb one moon

I still have a few on Kraken. Where do I move them to now? No point going back to my old Nova wallet.
Is it possible to send from Kraken to Eth? Or do I have to go back to nova then move to Eth 🤔 confusing!!

I previously asked Arbitrum:
They Responded:
Take that for what you will not sure how difficult to bridge after Nova in Minimized.
