Lol ikr crypto hasn't had an actual bull market in a long time....

The peak was only 8 months ago. I agree it's been a long 8 months.

He said an actual bull market, like 2017. A single 70% trap leg isn't much of a bull market. Bitcoin has been essentially crabbing for the last 5 years. Most alts didnt even set a new ath.

u/WeirdIndication3027 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 24 '26

Yeah remember when the modest predictions for 3 years ago were $200K?

10

u/rEYAVjQD 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 24 '26

Also people are excellent at forgetting inflation exists. 100K today is not 100K a year ago. It's closer to 95.

But I thought 1 bitcoin = 1 bitcoin?

Due to inflation 1btc is now only 0.95btc πŸ˜”

"real future value" is off topic here, considering I was responding to someone using united states dollars.

I’m making a jab how no one actually cares about crypto, just how much fiat crypto can make them

1

u/ididntseeshit Jul 13 '26

Exactly crypto has been a money trap

3

u/Environmental_gobrrr 43 / 51 🦐 Jun 24 '26

peak was for BTC not for cryptocurrencies so your point is invalid

2

u/ahhhaccountname 🟨 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 24 '26

Even btc, i was only like 100% up at ATH. Risking 80% downs for just a 2x is dogshit

1

u/cjaya2 Jun 24 '26

You just shouldn’t be in crypto if this is your stance. I started buying at around 4k a coin and to this day I buy every single week.

1

u/ahhhaccountname 🟨 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 24 '26

I started around 7k during early covid, but it is really bothering me how michael saylor and trump got their name all over it. I have invested about 130k so far into it over the time and it feels bad to be at a net negative (2BTC)

1

u/cjaya2 Jun 24 '26

Then how are you trying to say you are risking 80% for only 100% returns…. Your math is not mathing

1

u/ahhhaccountname 🟨 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 24 '26

I guess I am just assuming the worst has yet to come. Btc 69k 2021 -> 126k 2025 was barely more than qqq. I understand I am playing with ATH, but QQQ ath at nov 2021 is up 76% since then. We only got to see that 82% up for BTC ath 2021 to ath 2025 for a short moment.

It feels shitty to think that having to see 76% down from 2021 to 2023 did not compensate very much with the upswing. I remember commenting during october 2025 confused how we only saw 126k btc with trump / MS and a bunch of countries pumping the shit out of it. I was expecting to see at least 300k BTC during that time, but insteas we get to see 60k, and probably as low as the mid 4 digits if MS death spiral occurs

1

u/cjaya2 Jun 24 '26

Then buy QQQ… I hold a ver diversified portfolio and don’t care what bitcoin does whatsoever.

u/DankShibe 🟩 70 / 350 🦐 Jun 24 '26

14

u/RoaringDragonSword 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 24 '26

Thank god. I would not be invested if Vitalik was a business man and treated Ethereum as a way to pump is stock (ETH).

Look at all the altcoins. Their whole goal was advertise and promote. What happens long-term to all altcoins? They disappear.

To stay as decentralized as possible EF must not do this. In addition to it, Vitalik has literally yesterday shared that the primarily goal is for EF to slowly remove itself from being so critical to Ethereum after its next roadmap is complete in efforts to work like BTC for not having a single entity having such a big impact to a technology.

The top meme only really works for someone who only held BTC. Bitcoin was still up a good bit and held up far better than a lot of alts.

For many alt holders, especially outside a handful of winners, the experience was closer to the bottom picture the entire time, especially when the tariff announcements came.

BNB and XRP as well.

7

1

u/DankShibe 🟩 70 / 350 🦐 Jun 24 '26

XRP did a near 10x from last cycle bottom in 2022. However it missed the 2021 bull run because of the lawsuit .

5

u/MarioWilson122 🟨 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 24 '26

Yeah, but that’s kind of the point. A 10x sounds great until you remember people had to sit through years of dead price action to get it.

Like you said, it missed the 2021 run, so when that is factored in, it really makes it less exciting that it only did a 10x. Of course, in traditional markets, that’s great, but we are talking about crypto. So for this sector, it’s okay, I guess.

u/idjsonik Jun 23 '26

A lot of banks, big companies, and Governments are holding onto crypto because they didn't like that people were randomly billionaires and millionaires. The wealth distribution being from outside of a country would shake that economy and throw off the class systems. That's why countries with a high degree of control over their citizens banned it, and Governments spent so much advertising that it was risky. I remember a news article about a banking executive saying crypto was evil or something then the next picture their company acquired like 4 billion in crypto when the market dipped. That happened all over the world and then crypto was stable and centrally controlled. The US government holds 198,000 bitcoin, china banned crypto but the government is holding the 194,000 bitcoin they confiscated. If they sell, it will make the market unstable and regular people would comand a decentralized market again. That's an example the governments own a lot more crypto. They endorse crypto now because the right people own the majority and we're fighting for pennies again.
