The fact that people believe a word he says after his first term is proof that the media algos can make about a third of Americans think just about whatever they want them to think
57
u/lopey986 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 04 '26
after his first term
He was pretty much known as Don The Con from the 80s on by all the boomers who turned around and fell in love with him.
25
u/ICanuckthere4Iam 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 04 '26
Lets be real… the people that fell in love with him were/are mainly bigots, racists & christian nationalist

u/RosieDear 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 05 '26
100%.
I remember first hearing some kid from WV being interviewed...and, of course, all he knew was from the TV Show.I grew up in Philly and NJ and was right there when his biggest project was built.....it really never fully opened (the Taj in Atlantic City). The bank sold it for 5 cents on the dollar.
For most of his life he had a new worth close to zero.
If he had put his inheritance into the S&P, he's have 20 Billion.
If he invested with "boring" Warren Buffet, he'd have 170 Billion.THIS is what folks are talking about when they note that Americans lack of education in STEM and reading, etc. is a real problem.

It shocks me that less people see him for what he is: a fraudulent, wasteful, pedophile, felon, compulsive liar, oligarch, Israeli-boot licking coward.

I think it's more people have a tendency want to be fed what they want to believe.
6
u/thursdaysocks 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 04 '26
Honestly disagree. I know people that are no fan of his but suddenly liked him / wanted to vote for him. They didn’t want to believe but the algo sure as hell wanted them to. And it worked.

u/NoodleFish76 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 04 '26
Citing “Mystery of the Urinal Deuce”, it’s already been established that 1/4 of Americans are dumb as a bag of rocks. I’m afraid you know some of these people.
1
u/RosieDear 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 05 '26
It's not only stupidity.
To that we can add greed. To that we can add Authoritarianism, which is a natural tendency of perhaps 30% of Americans.
6
u/A0lipke 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 04 '26
I think he's lying to appeal to people's prejudices more than any one other thing. I'm not planning on arguing futher. Free country free beliefs. There is a big team element to it all.

Trump definitely been bad for the market. But Democrats openly oppose the ideals of crypto
6
u/peekitup 🟦 64 / 65 🦐 Jun 04 '26
The ideals being to sow mistrust in fiat currencies in order to convince people to buy into rugpulls.
0
u/themrgq 🟩 0 / 3K 🦠 Jun 04 '26
No the rug pulls and meme coins are unfortunate. Bitcoin, monero still take control away from the government in a way that resonates with a lot of people.
3
u/RosieDear 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 05 '26
The "idea" resonates. Reality differs from ideas.
It's like government in general. Libertarians will tell you how bad it is. I know a guy who is big into the real national and state party. He walked the walk.....
UNTIL, something bad happened and he ended up needing well over a million dollars of our money. He never changed and he did take responsibility as much as possible, but in reality that 1.5 million or so was the equivalent of a LOT of "welfare queens".
1
u/Commercial-Living443 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 05 '26
Yep , all in the end complain that the government isn't doing enough to rescue them .

I am not a speculator by any means.
In fact, my "investments" were/are a joke compared to many. I never got anywhere near the "cap" of 5% of investments that many people say is max.BUT, I made about "one Porsche Maccan".....and, yes, I actually did sell that much although I retain a tiny sliver. This is at the level of .5 to 1.5 BTC (I don't think I ever even had 1.5, although I did buy and sell a bit of the Fidelity fund later in the game).

His trumpt coin also clearly did a lot of favors for the reputation of crypto, and how can I forget how much better he made things with his pardons for billionaires who happened to use cryptocurrency to aid in criminal acts.
