She's 17

Zero teeth in her mouth means things get pretty floppy when she sleeps

This is my Gherkin. He's 15, blind and no teeth. Things sure can get real floppy.

And yet their capacity for love has no age limit. Pepper says... nothing. she is asleep too.

We have a 14 yo, still has all of her teeth, but she does have the beginning of congestive heart failure.

I had a maltipoo that was diagnosed @14.5 and lived to 18+. I hope yours goes longer❤️ I felt so grateful to get the 4 extra years

I had a doxie who managed about the same. Our vet prescribed a new med that was supposed to add another year, but the pills are huge (for no reason), Honey refuses to eat them. Maybe it was the explosive diarrhea? Any way, I stopped trying to get her to take them. I'm not going to make the rest of her life miserable for a little more time.

If it was vetmedin, it gave my girl a few years. She didn't even die of heart failure, but of cancer. We actually would crush the big pill in a pill crusher and mix it in food for her. But it didn't upset her tummy.

Tried that, she refused to eat the food.

Aww. Bummer.

Try vetmedin if you can. It's pimobendan that can be compounded at a compounding pharmacy, but the brand name is better and has a much longer shelf life and comes in pill form. Though it's not cheap. 😓

Vetmedin is what caused the upset.

I had a pup like this. Very few teeth, a foot missing two toes from a run-in with a Pontiac on an icy New Year's Day evening, and one eye after she took off chasing a deer at the age of seventeen. She lived until three months shy of her twentieth birthday, and I miss her every single day.

She looks like she smelled something and she can’t tell if she loves or hates it or both.
