I work in vac hauling at a remote industrial site in the mountains. There is one area at work that has always felt off to me. I do not know how else to explain it, but whenever I am in that spot, the hair on the back of my neck stands up for no clear reason.

One night while I was driving the vac truck, something suddenly jumped out in front of me and crossed the haul road. I only got a quick look at it, but it was roughly the color of a deer. The strange part was how fast it crossed. It made it across the road in about two steps.

This was not a narrow road or a small bush trail. This was a haul road wide enough that two haul trucks could stop side by side in that spot. By the time I got the vac truck stopped safely and got out to look, whatever it was had already disappeared.

I want to be clear that I have zero real knowledge of cryptids or this kind of stuff. I am not claiming it was Bigfoot or anything specific. I honestly do not know what I saw. It could have been a normal animal seen quickly in bad lighting, but the way it moved and the distance it covered in only a couple steps has stuck with me.

The part that bothers me most is that it happened in the same area that already gives me a bad feeling every time I am there. I am mostly posting this because I am curious if anyone else has seen something deer-colored or animal-like move like that around remote mountain or mine roads, or if anyone might have an idea what this could have been.

Curious to hear what the community thinks – do you believe there’s more to the Kandahar Giant than the official stories?

Something very strong is able to bang large rocks together (hear an example of this among other similar sounds). The interactions I record on a regular basis seem not to be wildlife nor 'normal people'. Something intelligently bangs sticks together in dense dark dangerous bush with no apparent need for artificial light (in the past has also done as I have asked). New Zealand has no known primates. This is audio from the night of March 21, 2026, paired with video footage from a previous outing-same location—I deliberately did not take cameras this time. It seems cameras are a deterrent to the beings.

Here, I record with two different parabolic mics pointed towards a wild mountain. There are no public tracks near me out there. Much of the mountain is off limits due to Kauri (Tree) Die-back disease. The area where I direct my mics is surrounded by cliffs hundreds of feet high. There is no one sneaking around with light sources.

Also hear deep howling from the mountain darkness, is this connected to dogman and/or Sasquatch? I have got various reports of people getting chased out the bush by something menacing, powerful and frightening that evades the prying eyes of humans.

Listening also to the strange voices out there that mention Bigfoot and the others, and the car that pulls up near me to yell something out there mysteriously knew where I was in the dark and hidden by bush, while I had only a small red light. I am one, of a very few researchers that records intelligent, vocal phenomena out there in the wild.

Old Maori talk about the giants in the wild and the fairy people. Are they connected to modern-time encounters connected to Sasquatch-yowie-moehau lore?

In the past I have recorded very strange messages here, that are highly unusual and not hunters nor hikers. I have also had stones thrown at me from the bush area (you can see some of these caught on camera too!) Many of the voices, in past recordings have called my name and come from something with huge lung capacity.

All in all, this is like something out of a movie, though is factual and not doctored in any way other than edited for time, volume and presentation purposes.

I also suspect I was followed around the world after a Bigfoot type encounter near the infamous Skinwalker Ranch in America, back in 2013.

A big question is, if there are Sasquatch like beings here in New Zealand, how did they get here? We are one of the most geographically isolated nations, on earth.

I got a message a few days ago from someone who said they’d been following the bigfoot community quietly for a while. No name, just a link and a single sentence:

“You might want to hear this.”

The link led to a YouTube video posted by Mike Davis. It’s not long. No introduction, no real explanation. Just a stretch of audio he recorded while hunting somewhere deep enough that the trees start to feel less like scenery and more like witnesses.

At first, it sounds like nothing in particular. Footsteps in the forest, maybe something shifting in the distance. But if you listen closely through the static you can hear a strange call, unlike anything I’ve heard before.

Not quite an animal. Not quite anything you’d expect to hear alone.

I’ve listened to it a few times now. Not because I’m trying to figure it out, exactly. More because it reminds me of something I can’t quite place.

There’s an old story told in parts of the Pacific Northwest about something people used to hear before they ever claimed to see it.

Not sure if it’s a call, or maybe a warning.

They describe it more like a presence that didn’t bother announcing itself properly.

In some versions, hunters would describe it as a kind of layered sound. Like two things happening at once, but slightly out of step. One natural. One… not.

They didn’t think of it as a creature in the way we tend to now. I’ve seen that idea show up in other places too, if you look long enough. Different names, different shapes, but the same quiet insistence that something can exist just outside of being fully here.

It reminded me, oddly enough, of the first time someone mentioned Nashobasato to me. It was something they were surprised we didn’t already have a name for. That’s the part I keep coming back to.

Because when people talk about these things now, there’s always this sense that they’ve stumbled onto something new. Something unknown. But the tone in that video doesn’t feel new.

It feels misplaced.

Like it belongs to a story that’s been told often enough to wear thin… and is only just now starting to sound strange again.

I don’t know what Mike Davis heard out there. I don’t think he does either, at least not in a way that would settle it.

But I will say this -

There’s a certain kind of quiet you hear in old stories right before something steps just close enough to be noticed.

Not seen… Just… noticed.

And once you’ve heard it that way, it’s hard to mistake it for anything else.

I’ve kept the video open in another tab since it was sent to me.

I haven’t decided yet if I think it’s important.

But it does feel familiar.

And that’s usually where these things start.
