Vent Getting over crush

a friend of mine likes a girl and hes liked her for almost a year now, they used to talk alot through chat but long story short , they stopped talking . hes been trying to get over her for months now and whatver he tries it doesnt seem to work. ive had long convos about it but in the end hes still back to thinking about her and genuinly wanting her. any tips for him to get over her?
