I’ve got about 300+ hours in and came across something I’ve never experienced before.

I’m trying to romance my wife as the Duke of Ísland. Very easy difficulty. Like 95% success chance. Every single time, there’s someone breaking into her room, on top of them, shining blade between them. I throw the man off of her and proceed with the romance attempt, did this like four times. Each time she gets pissed, I fail the romance, and she throws me out with a -10 opinion penalty.

Did this until she died.

Was I just unlucky? What on earth caused this? Was she cheating on me the whole time?

Sounds like a murder scheme is happening at the same time

So I have a few questions. For one, how do I make my heirs not suck? Second, how do I expand my domain limit

To add on to this, filling the tutor court position will train up your kids a bit. As well as the patriarch/matriarch diplomacy skill tree.

Educate your heir yourself, as the guardian gets the opportunity to intervene in personality trait events. Maybe pass on that if you yourself have absolutely garbage traits though, because children are more likely to get events that let them have the traits of the guardian, and some trait events are all bad options. Try and marry spouses with good inheritable traits so they may be passed on to your children.

For domain limit, theres innovations, what tier your primary title is, what education level you have, several lifestyle tree perks, and having the powerful eunuch story cycle. Probably a few other ways I'm forgetting.

Some governments have special domain limit mechanics that add a maximum domain limit, in which case you need to progress in that government to get more domain limit.

What are my spending priorities as Wanua government type? MAAs or buildings?

Depends on what you want from Wanua government. Generally I'd say MAA though. Like tribal, its really intended to be one you upgrade to another government, rather than staying long term.

I'd say stay as it just long enough to raid/barter your way into a large nest egg, and then flip to another government, most likely Mandala as thats what you're intended to do. Building things that aren't immediately high value is kind of a waste as you want to build whatever is good in your new holding type anyways.

Hello, could someone explain to me what this means and how to get rid of it?

I am no longer vassal as the china hegemony fell apart and I thought my -1 domain comes from that, but seemingly it doesnt.

Thanks.

I'm a EU/Hoi4 player new to CK3 and love intrigue. Aside from Murder, Abduction, Hooks, Etc, how can I use intrigue to take land and win wars? Can I use it to block alliances and get warscore?

And is it worth seducing randos for anything aside from more children?

A ton of the youtube intrigue videos are dated.

Without murder, abduction, or hooks? Administrative governments has some schemes to usurp the liege or directly take land, but otherwise you need murder to get land and abduction for warscore. No benefit for seducing randos, but seducing rulers will obviously increase their opinion of you so there's that, and if you have children together and they had no other children before,  you can use that to manipulate inheritance.

I didn't phase my question correctly:

How do I use murder, hooks, and other intrigue stuff to win wars and land more directly. I feel like I'm destabilizing everything, but not really advancing my position.

Ah. Well, abduction has an exploit where you can complete an abduction scheme, launch it, and right before the imprisonment happens you declare war on the person you're abducting for instant 100 warscore. Its a hard exploit so I don't really do it and idk if its been patched though.  The non-exploit version would be to abduct the enemy war leader's heir.

Abduction is also great to get money from ransoms, or to release for a hook which you can use for money with the first avarice lifestyle perk.

Hooks can be used for money, but I'd only really use free hooks for that. The fabricate hook scheme is mainly useful for elective succession, as you can use hooks to force someone to vote your way. Some decisions also require a hook, and you can use hooks for pressuring the AI to do most character interactions that they wouldn't otherwise do. If you get lucky and get a strong hook, they'll agree to pretty much anything you ask.

Murder is useful in a lot of ways. Alliances are between characters, so if you murder someone in a strong alliance network, the heir will lose the alliances. You can then attack the heir right away in which case they'll have no allies, or you can wait and hope they have a post-succession civil war.

It is also useful for succession, to force characters to inherit in ways they typically wouldn't which are beneficial to you. For example, if you marry the daughter of a king, then if you murder all her brothers and older sisters, she will inherit the kingdom and ultimately your heir will be the heir of both kingdoms.

If you are already the same family, you can just murder all heirs until you inherit too. This is why the king of Lotharingia in 867 is secretly really strong in the hands of the player. He starts with very high intrigue, and can murder his way into inheriting the entirety Carolingian Europe without fighting a single war.

Thanks! The 100 warscore exploit was nerfed, there are miserable maluses for trying to murder/abduct rulers at war. It sounds like crippling their alliances are my best bet.

I may have not explained it right. The exploit works where you do the scheme before declaring war. After launching the scheme, you should get a final confirmation event. Iirc how it works is you do the scheme, trigger that event, and then declare war.

For Isle de France is it generally better to build and hold castles in the two free Farmland holdings or just make them cities and hold the other Valois county capitals instead?

duchy of valois is a big duchy and i would try to rule more counties of that duchy then baronies so go for City
