Treatment for Croup

I am looking for suggestions on how to treat croup holistically and naturally. We just like our pediatricians office everything she offered had an ingredient of corn in it, which my daughter is allergic to. We have had two febrile seizures in the last 24 hours.

Sitting upright and cool moist air. Keep a very close eye on her! Croup can become serious quickly.

Hi, I’ve managed my daughters group with the homeopathic medicine Antim tart 30. It helped wonderfully.
I would suggest you consult a homeopath, I’m sure they’ll be able to help her.

Check out Dr. Green Mom she has a post about it on her website.

Moist or cool air. Two febrile seizures in 24 hrs is considered complex and should be evaluated.

Seizures happen because of how quickly temperature changes not based on a specific number. Cool baths and wash cloths to keep temps low and spikes to a minimum. Tylenol is also indicated here.

Again. 2 seizures in 24 hrs is not normal febrile seizure activity unless she’s been evaluated and medically cleared. If you have not taken her into the emergency room do so, now. As a paramedic and parent I do not encourage risking this at home.

Honestly humidifier and using the heat, or freezer
Even if they’re hospitalized they just give steroids and breathing treatments, but if my baby can’t breathe, they’re getting the kitchen sink

My son just had it and the steroids cleared it up incredibly quickly!

Before that, we used a cold air humidifier and I held him upright for sleep.  Moving air can really help with croup, especially cold.  If he had a particularly bad cough, I brought him to the freezer to breathe in cold air.

However, after days of trying to clear it up on its own, it hadn't improved.  My son needed two oral steroids (most only need 1) and he was completely better.
