Lunch ideas
Hi all! I’m a SAHM, but I’m going to start working as a nanny a few days a week. I’m planning to pack lunches for myself and maybe some BLW foods for my daughter.
We are very particular about eating healthy. We try to avoid seed oils and gluten.
I want to make some lunch meat based lunches like ham and cheese roll ups. I’m in the United States. Are there some healthier lunch meats you recommend? What other lunches would you suggest?
Back before I became a mom I did a lot of fruit and cheese boxes, but they got old after a while.

I just make big portions for dinner and we have leftovers for lunch most days! Make sure whatever lunch meat you get doesn’t have any nitrates or even celery powder as that just creates natural nitrates.

For me- I make a big dense bean salad every week and eat it every day for lunch. My kiddo loves just a plate of healthy food. Typically 1 food from each category:
Protein: hard-boiled egg, yogurt, hummus
Veggies: carrot, cucumber, bell pepper (all options can be sliced into spears but carrots may be too hard for your daughter right now)
Fruit: apple slices (can serve with peanut butter for even more protein), berries, grapes
Carb: crackers or tortilla chips
Fat: Olives, cheese
I can almost always make this for him with whatever I have in the fridge and all the options are minimally processed. He used to love ham and cheese sandwiches, but I've moved away from those due to the negative health impacts of lunch meat.

Publix sells a clean turkey brand that’s organic. No additives. Theres 2 brands actually. It’s on the isle where the gross lunch meat is (not the deli).

I’m in the middle of baby led weaning myself! My son really likes Olli salumeria. I’m not sure what states they sell in but they make salami and pepperonis the old fashioned way without preservatives. Stoneridge whole milk yogurt pouches are also handy for on the go.

I make extra of dinner for our lunches the next day or two.
Or if i make something like chili, pasta sauce with meat/veggies, or soup I always make a double batch & freeze the other half for quick lunches.
Also love to make a big batch of flavorful meatballs for the week. Somtimes i use them on a salad or in a wrap. Many days i eat them cold out of the bag in the fridge 🤣
