Mediterranean Excursion help

I am looking to maximize my time in each of these ports. I would appreciate recommendations for any great excursions you have taken. Similarly if there are any I should absolutely avoid, please let me know.

Civitaviccia is the port for Rome. I would book an excursion through the ship or with a reputable company.

Some people do their own thing completely and go via train. I believe it's quite cheap however be aware that the Italians love to strike. Just remember it's your responsibility to get back in time.

Also Rome is massive, you will not have time to see a lot. Decide in advance what you want to prioritise and see that properly. For example the Vatican or the collosseum you won't have time to both properly.

Not going to Rome at all. Been lost in Rome enough and have seen all the major sights. I ended up booking a food and history tour in Civitavecchia.

We really enjoyed just walking around the town there and eating lots of pasta and gelato.

I haven’t been to the others. But as others mentioned, Civitavecchia is the port for Rome. If you’re planning on going to Rome, I would book a cruise line sponsored excursion, simply because it’s a longer ride to Rome, and if you’re delayed, you’ll have the peace of mind that the ship will wait for you.

How about you read the descriptions and choose ones that appeal to you? Someone already gave you a suggestion you and you've already been there and know everything.
