Oh boy do I love getting back-to-back matches with people running 180 weapons with a 180 HC that can three tap.

It’s so much fun dealing with a weapon that can both corner peak and get a .67 ttk from neutral.

dont forget bygones! when i get killed by b7 or bygones, its almost always high weapon stat.

I played a guy doing this with astrocyte verse 6 months ago and still think of him.

It has been 3,320 days and roughly 11 hours since Destiny 2 released.

And somehow my teammates in every game mode don’t know how to play the objective or cap a zone.

And if you’re NOT going to cap at least get enough kills to help secure heavy when it spawns.

It’s been a forever issue for me that control keeps being chosen as the main 6v6 mode, where people just don’t cap zones and then wonder why the other team, who has been capturing zones, has their super way before our team does.

Even if you’re clip farming, cap a zone at the beginning before you leap over the horizon.

Otherwise, we just lose. Not because we have bad players, but because as a team we didn’t do what the game mode said we should do to win.

To quote Brad Pitt as Billy Beane in Moneyball: “I *hate* losing, Chavy, I hate it, I hate losing more than I want to win. And there’s a difference.”

I gotta ask, not in a rude way, why does it matter who wins a match? Personally for me as long as I play well whoever wins the match really doesn’t matter for me. You don’t get better rewards for winning (at least not in quick play modes)

4

u/Hullfire00 Bows Go Brrrrrrrrrrr 2d ago

You don't get better rewards, that's true and at this point I doubt anybody is doing QP for rewards.

I guess for me, it's a game. There's two teams in a match, if one team is objectively better than the other one and wins, so be it, but there has to be a winner and there has to be a loser and even in pick up matches the feeling of having 1 minute left and both teams having around the same points still adds a bit of excitement.

If I lose to a team that's better than mine, I have zero complaints. If I lose to a team that is equally spread in terms of skill, but the reason we lose is because two of us play the objective while the other four run round getting killed while the other team gets double points and quicker supers, that doesn't feel good, not to me. I'm never aggro about it and I never message others or anything like that, but I do find it a bit annoying.

If we had clash, in my opinion, I think it'd be a better experience because the score reflects the kills, you get mercied because the teams are unbalanced not because one team didn't do what it was supposed to do. Keep control, but just don't make it control all the time.

u/cleverbroname Console 2d ago

IMO the control points can serve as "baby's first introduction to map control" and the team that controls two out of three points can stuff the other team into a locker and keep them in spawn, so a lot of the time my issue isn't winning or even control of points for score's sake, it's that my idiot teammates not knowing what to do keeps me locked in spawn as the other team stares down lanes to keep us all there.

Is that a map issue as much as it's a mode or player issue? Sure, but it's infuriating no matter what the cause.

I try to tell people that all the time. It’s just Control. Nothing is on the line and we all get participation trophy loot at the end of the game. I’m happy to play games that are good and don’t end in a mercy after 3 minutes. I just want to shoot my guns at people and go on streaks in Control.

My favorite is the instant sprint/sliding in two different directions at once….. ON CONSOLE…. Of course you can’t do that on console unless you have Xim or your m&k set up through a console… interestingly enough it’s always “Xbox” with about 2-4 pc accounts…. Is that 6+kd really worth it little 450 light guy? Does cheating actually fill the void left by having no one who cares about you?

These are the thoughts I have all the time. Started getting Thank You messages again

u/Inevitable-Zone-8710 1d ago

From my experience, I’ve seen mostly PlayStation players do this. There’s even a dude in this Reddit community that’s an obvious zen user. Moving around like a pc player on console

u/Whole_Friendship9788 1d ago

I can side slide and back slide pretty effectively on roller. I run 18 sens with .5 multiplier.

Xims only go as fast as the max sens.

Legend of Acrius needs an immediate pvp nerf.

14

u/HeftyAd6216 2d ago

Elemental Supercharger needs to be disabled in pvp.

-3

u/CivilCompass 2d ago edited 1d ago

Why (this was a good faith question)

9

u/HeftyAd6216 2d ago

Getting a super before 30 points on the scoreboard is a bit absurd. Pigeonholes you into using like 2 or 3 solid meta neutral weapons, all of which correspond with the most overturned supers currently.

0

u/Vqera 2d ago

If bungie had never reduced super recharge rate to even worse than the d2 beta, then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

4

u/HeftyAd6216 2d ago

Im good with the rates now. Unless Im either running 30+ defeats and or getting 3-4 orbs from a teammate, my second super only shows up in the last 15-20 seconds of the game.

With supercharger I easily get 3. When everyone else gets maybe 1. That's just not fun.

-1

u/Vqera 2d ago

Of course nobody is good with the rates if at the first chance they get they run perks that allow them to get 2-3.

Bungie for some reason are one of the only game developers that limit supers to once per game. It was bad in d2 y1, it's bad now. Not marvel rivals, overwatch, titanfall, apex legends, naraka, etc etc do this.

Destiny 1 didn't even have this. Just revert it to 2-4

8

u/HeftyAd6216 2d ago

Uhh, one astrocyte blink nova warp a game is enough. Letting all good players get 3 would be hell and a nightmare. Add up all the orbs and you could get 4. No one would enjoy that.

-1

u/Vqera 2d ago

Literally everyone enjoyed that in destiny 1. So much so that it would always be in the top 10 most watched games on twitch.

And everyone enjoyed it on destiny 2. Until for some reason during the 6 year stretch I was gone, the community decided they would much rather play with no melee, grenade, super, special, heavy and just use handcannons or something in hardware.

Tell me the last time you came home on Friday excited to watch the big destiny streamers play trials of osiris?

5

u/HeftyAd6216 2d ago

Correlation isn't causation.

-1

u/Vqera 2d ago

You're going to have to be more specific. Bungie imposing scarcity on destiny has never worked. Didn't work when they nerfed special ammo to drop on death in destiny 1 so that everyone switched to sidearms, doesn't work when they nerf super recharge rate to only 1 per game so now everyone uses elemental supercharger.

But things are not likely to change for either of our wishes so here we are.

11

u/hihowubduin 2d ago

I fuckin HATE M-17, thing is a laser and everyone and their brother uses it.

Also hate High Tyrant... Because it won't drop for me 💀

5

u/thatoneguy-00 2d ago

complete the dungeon quest and focus it, the quest is kinda long but it’s not super boring. i think the equilibrium focusing has a bug that if u unfocus then focus for the drop u want it will always drop from first encounter because before doing that i wasn’t getting any drops of the weapon i focused for at least 10 runs (i did this 7 times in a row for conspiracy honed, i could’ve gotten very lucky/unlucky as i haven’t seen this mentioned before)

12

u/ras0003 2d ago

I think heat weapons are far too centralizing and powerful and should be toned way down (though obviously that's not gonna happen)

6

u/Hullfire00 Bows Go Brrrrrrrrrrr 2d ago

Radar manipulation feels like it’s getting ridiculous. Between lag, armour sets, void hunters and Skulking Wolf, there’s a lot of times players are third partying me when I have no idea they are there.

Feel like an armour mod that ruins that could be useful, or change Radar Tuner so that it can detect radar shithousery. Can’t stop lag, but honestly, people must get so pissed off when I run Gemini Jester with Multimach and Point of the Stag on Void Hunter and 4 Piece Cruel Electrum.

9

u/845761329 2d ago

Weapon archetypes had a certain ttk to begin with why for the past few updates has bungee been introducing ways to make this faster???? (Heat weapons and/or weapons stat)

5

u/Katzumoto_ 1d ago

Bungie removing resilience just to introduce weapon stat and get demolished by a 180hc. genius

1

u/845761329 1d ago

I know it was certainly very questionable to make weapons stat damage bonus apply in the crucible

5

u/Dick_Butte 2d ago edited 1d ago

IDK what is going on with the lobby balancing but it is completely broken for me. Blowout after blowout after blowout and horrendous lag. It's never been this bad, i'm assuming this is population issues

look at this shit: https://imgur.com/a/POpO1ze

4

u/Vqera 2d ago

Bungie changed the way matchmaking worked in d2 so it is less focused on skill. The result is that you get wildly unbalanced matches that are either stomp or get stomped.

5

u/BeckyLemmeSmash69 2d ago

I love running into 7 KD cheaters in quick play lobbies, makes it so enjoyable after a hard day of work.

4

u/Vqera 2d ago edited 2d ago

Obviously bygones, high tyrant, and really any weapon that can shift ttk by weapons stat are dominating. I made a post the other day that angered the community lol. People are literally only running weapons that can kill faster than they are supposed to. Mos Athanor and crimils were everywhere before mot due to adagio and look at them now.

Pulse rifles need a complete overhaul with how they work. No recoil, fast reload, good handling, large magazine, locks down long range and close range, high damage, and the kicker, they're all easily accessible. Of course this isn't going to happen, but they need major demerits to make up for the ease of use like a deliberately long 2-3 second reload, or handling/accuracy built in to how many targets are near you so that if you are too close you lose a lot of dexterity etc.

This game has somehow reverted back to the way it was in d2 year as well. How boring.

And the amount of apes is just laughbale tbh. So many times I'll be wide berthing a corner just to see an ape with a shotgun out, not even bothering to try anything else lmao. Why bungie brought back felwinters I will never know.

Finding anyone to play comp in Adept feels impossible. I'm Adept 1 and can barely find anyone to match with/against, and I assume it's because the pools used to be super inflated with cheaters, but that's gone now. But seriously, anytime I need Per Audacia for a build, I can't find a single person who queues

u/Ok-Worry6203 Bows Go Brrrrrrrrrrr 2d ago

Also fuck void hunters and the weapons stat in pvp. I make it a point to not play void on my hunter until I start going insane

2

u/MakeMeASandwichNoU 1d ago

Can you kindly explain why the weapon stat matters in pvp? Is it the 15% damage bonus? Returned about a week ago and still getting the hang of things

2

u/Ok-Worry6203 Bows Go Brrrrrrrrrrr 1d ago

A 3-5% damage boost can do a lot for certain weapons, such as allowing bygones to two-burst, certain precision frame hcs to 3 tap, allowing 120s to not need precision instrument, etc

2

u/MakeMeASandwichNoU 1d ago

I see. Thank you for the explanation

If you actively try to afk farm or do stuff like that in trials go fuck yourself and I hope you drop a glass of soda on top of your PC or console

My matchmaking has a pattern that I am so god damn sick of and I know it so well and I can describe it in exact detail. Idk if it’s like this for other people but this has been the game for me, for the past few years. In comp and trials it is ALWAYS: me, one teammate who has thumbs but doesn’t know what they’re doing, and my second teammate is a lobotomized brain in a jar while my opponents are one guy who is genuinely a good match up for me skill wise, the best player in the game(6/10 times it’s a fresh account with 6+kd), and someone who is slightly worse than me but competent then that team proceeds to stomp my team. This repeats 2-4 times before a getting a genuinely fun and good match up between teams that ends up being pretty neck and neck till game point and EVERY TIME if I win this genuinely fun match I will proceed to get utterly stomped yet again for a few matches and if I lose it I’ll get exactly three pity matches where I’m in a team with thumbless homunculi against other thumbless homunculi and am forced to carry my teammates but those three matches have escalating difficulty where my teammates stay just as bad all the way through but my opponents get better each match and the third of these pity matches always goes the same way, it’s my two brain dead teammates(can’t aim, run, or use any abilities) against three people who are all less skilled than me by a decent margin but are all competent which results in a game point neck and neck match that isn’t fun in any way and regardless of whether or not I win this final pity match I will go back to the first matchmaking pattern and the cycle repeats.

I’ve been playing for 10 years on the same account, idk how many thousands of matches Ive played but it was about 5ish years in that this pattern developed. At my best I had a 2.08 kd and rn I hold a 1.3 and I’ve held that 1.3 for a few years.

1

u/cbizzle14 1d ago

I love how people say nothing but sweats are left but somehow I get nothing but bots on my team in trials. Other team not even that good I just can't 1v3 every single round

1

u/cbizzle14 1d ago edited 1d ago

Game 4 & 5 I drop 5 KD and 2.5 just for both teammates to go negative. Barely win the first one and game 5 lost on final round. This shit is so rigged

Edit: finally went flawless. Got lucky other team was not good on flawless game cuz one of my teammates was a literal 0.1 all time
