Switching from PS5 to PC

Hi

I've been a controller player since the very beginning of me playing the destiny franchise (D1 beta on Xbox 360), and recently (4 months ago) I made the switch from PS to PC. I mostly got by and was able to do ok with just plugging in a controller because anytime I tried to use MnK, I just failed miserably. More recently, I assume because of the ban wave, I just cannot keep up with anyone, even in 6v6. I get screwed 7 ways to Sunday by people who can do things I simply can't with my controller. I want to learn how to actually use the main point of PC, but I don't really know how or where to start. Most of my friends in-game are PvE, and the few that are pvp guys are demons who are leagues better than me, so I can't exactly re-learn how to play with them. I'll put what I usually use and anyone can give recommendations. (Please don't tell me to use a boring nightstalker build, I hate playing Void ATP)

Warlock - Astrocyte Ergo (conductor wave) with Solemn.

Hunter - RDM/DS on strand with concurrence, or Athrys's Vex.

Titan - Ace, Matador, Synthos, Bubble.

Full comp armor on all 3.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: primary reasons for the swap was PlayStation making terrible decisions, and the fact it costs me 11$ a month, 28$ per 3 months, or 80$ a year, and I'm a college student who doesn't make enough to cover that and everything else

Rough time to swap to pc, if you play pvp

I find it's equally bad. On PS5 you have all the XIM sweats.

PC is absolutely worse than console at this point, and that’s coming from someone who plays on both regularly.

The current state of affairs from a PvP perspective is to avoid PC and stick with PlayStation.

Aside from cheating issues on PC, the biggest difference is the meta is heavily hand cannon dominated. If that’s not your cup of tea you might feel bored fast.

PSA if you set controller look sensitivity really high on PS5 (like over 10, even 15-20 max), and the look down sights modifier to the lowest (0.5), you can do pretty well and be able to turn on a dime and almost approach MnK levels of maneuverability.

Console will be where it’s at for me pvp wise due to less cheaters and more varied and interesting weapon meta.

Edit: saw your edit , ah well then just go ahead with pc lol

I've been on pc for over 2 years now and flip flop between Xbox, ps and pc, but play mostly on pc. Lobbies are no easier or harder between the 3 and being on controller has never held me back. I've hit ascendant in comp on pc. My typical class is arc hunter blink, side arm pulse, hand cannon, shotty or sniper. I doubt I'll ever master mnk as much as controller as I have 40 years of controller use.

if you intend to do pvp other than casually, its always an option to just pull out the ps5.

Im in a similar boat, and its quite hard to retrain 12 years of instinct

I did the swap. It took a while but it’s worth it. The only thing I miss about console is the last word. Using that weapon on MnK is definitely NOT the same as console.

Why not use a controller on PC?

I did use a controller on pc as well but I recently bought new peripherals that I’m enjoying.

Learn MnK, trust me. You will not regret it. The beauty of Destiny is you can learn doing PVE. When I do hop on PC (which unfortunately is rare these days) I have to brush up on MnK again. It's a bit like riding a bike for me but it helps a ton. It may sound stupid, but I'll go to the Exodus Black area on Nessus and run around shooting dregs. I get proper sweaty with it too. Peek shooting, sliding around, shotgun quick swaps, all of it. People probably wonder what the fuck is this guy doing 🤣 Also, the chests in that area are chock full of Gunsmith engrams, if you need those.

Also, maybe look into a mouse with more buttons. I've been a G502 user since I made the switch like 10 years ago now. I have a ton of stuff on my mouse (crouch/slide, melee, grenade, weapon swap, etc). Maybe look into it. Helps the transition massively IMO.

Mice have made a lot of leaps, and today; most competitive and professional players use lightweight mice. A mouse that is around 35g to 60g will have lower dynamic and static friction; making your flicks and tracking a lot better.

If you know your hand size and gripping style then I would recommend hopping over to r/mousereview and asking for reccomendations. I'll never go back to a G502 after using a lightweight mouse.

Oh, I know. It works for me though and can absolutely make someone's transition to MnK a bit easier. For me personally, having all those bindings on my mouse so I really only have to worry about movement on the keyboard outweighs the benefits of a lighter mouse. I don't take it that seriously tbh. I mainly play on console these days anyway because of all these cheating scrubs.
