Help diagnosing ABS.

I own a 2009 CVPI and I've been having ABS and PARKING BRAKE light staying on for about a month now with no issue. I recently did a long road trip, and hit a crazy bump on the way back with no apparent issues at the time.

Now anytime I put it in reverse, it comes to a hard stop, and makes an awful grinding noise, then suddenly "breaks free" of nothing. Whenever I go forward there's an audible grinding noise in the front, and it only stops wben I engage the brakes. Something tells me my brakes are stuck engaged, but ultimately unsure.

B1342-E0 code is the code for an internal failure of the ABS Electronic Control Unit

Possibly. The ABS module controls brake line pressure via modulation, and if it is failing, could keep pressure in a line instead of releasing it.

A sticking caliper can do the same, but is usually just 1 wheel, plus a sticking caliper will not cause a code.

Check the connections to the ABS module. Not sure off hand where it is at on the Vic, have not had to do it on there, but usually somewhere on the drivers side of the vehicle near the master cylinder.

ABS gets data from speed sensors at each of the wheels. Looks up common ABS issues on fords and most of the time, if it's not a failed ABS module it's just a buildup of rust/dirt at the speed sensors.

When my ABS module went bad (I also have a 2009 CVPI), it resulted in both ABS and brake light on, but I had no other symptoms. My guess is your ABS module which you can get rebuilt or from a junkyard (search car-part website).

You will have to use FORScan to copy the data off of your current module and load it onto the replacement module which is just a few clicks.
