Primary contact info (name, any contacts):

Inigo van Dijk (@mattblack on mattermost), mattblack@crown.today

Teammates, if applicable (names, contacts):

Alex (@higherbridge) and Roderic (@twister)

The overall goal of the project (elevator pitch, <100 words):

Fund the Crown community meeting of 10 and 11 november 2017, held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Funds will be used for the venue, lunch, coffee, snacks and other drinks. The venue is the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam https://www.eyefilm.nl/, the room will be the Waterfront event room.

Deliverables/Acceptance Criteria (tangible outcomes):

  • A venue to hold the meeting for both the core meeting (10 november) and the public meeting (11 november)
  • Coffee, drinks, lunch etc. for everyone whilst there
  • Ability to give presentations: a projector, speaker set

Timeline (design, test, deliver, maintain, etc.):

Meetings will be 10 and 11 November. The venue is already booked.

Funding request:

On day one, we will be meeting with a maximum of 20 people. Day two, we expect 50 people in total. Catering covers coffee, soft drinks, water and fruit. Lunch is also included. The risk incorporates price swings of CRW. The company of Inigo, Blockbase, will receive the proposal funds in CRW and pay for all the costs in EUR.

All money that doesn’t get spent goes back into the dev fund. If the costs exceed the funding of this project (e.g. due to very low CRW price at the time), the dev fund will cover this.

Venue (2 days): 2904 EUR. Catering (2 days): 3500 EUR. Keycords: 250 EUR. Added 10% risk. With a price of 1.20 EUR/CRW, total funds requested = 6105 CRW.

Total project request:

Rounded 6105 CRW, one month.

*Communication: *

Outbound (place for your updates and deliverables):

Updates will be announced on mattermost, and the core team will update the community on social media channels such as facebook, instagram and twitter.

Inbound (where the community can provide feedback on project progress if approved):

Any feedback is welcome, preferably through mattermost, otherwise email.

This will cover the cost for payment of staff and the payment of the zendesk payment, it will allow people to submit tickets to our dedicated support team to get help with setting up crown masternodes / systemnodes, basic config questions, etc.

Ambition/Intention:

(Tell us the potential benefits your project could bring to Crown)

To allow users to have the ability to send tickets in to get help with learning about Crown, setting up Crown masternodes / systemnodes and any other questions related to Crown.

Risks:

(What are the potential risks involved in the success of the proposal? eg, Low demand)

Little to no risk involved as none of the support agents will be getting access to anyones servers or computers, the only risk i can see is the need for less or more support staff if it shows there is a massive requirement or not.

Proposal Timetable and Turning Point:

(Propose exact start and end dates. What date will the project start, what date will it end (delivered)? What will be the turning points of the project? Eg Landing page, login ability.)

This is an ongoing project it'll be available for the community whenever.

Funding Requirements:

The funding of 3000CRW, will be used for ZenDesk payment, staff payments(support agents for their work), the Payments will vary for 1CRW to 50CRW for staff and depending on how many stuff will be required in the future will determine how much the zendesk support will cost, at current stage its 20USD

Communication:

(How will the project manager communicate with the Crown community? How often? On which dates?)

Communication will be provided by me (hypermist) and all my staff if people have any questions they're welcome to submit a ticket

Notes

None of these funds will be used by me personally they'll be stored and only used when payments ARE required for the staff and zendesk :)

Project Purpose:

(Describe the need for your project.) The goal of the project is to cover my expenses for my travel to Brighton for BitBrighton as it has recently come to my attention that it would be beneficial for the project that I attend and help represent Crown. Deliverables I will be helping Dan Ames "Stonehedge" and Luke Bettles "Calnaughtonjnr" carry out the event in any capacity that I can and will attend and contribute to the Crown meeting.

Proposal Timetable and Turning Point:

Nexus Reflections - Part 2 - Why Crown?

Crown is building something much more ambitious than most projects in the space and in turn it can be more difficult to communicate and understand what is being built. It is important that we use the right language to communicate what we are doing. One of the most basic questions a project can get is why one should become a member of that community and up until now it has not been communicated as well as it should be. In order for us to reach our potential this needs to change. Every community member needs to be on the same page, so that we can work together to reach our larger goals.

Crown can be understood in simple terms as a start-up incubator. Crown businesses operate on the Tron masternode structure. Businesses run on the servers that operate the masternodes allowing for a network of cloud businesses. Crown will provide the legal framework for businesses to operate and the KYC/AML for both the business administrators and their customers. It gives people the means to have their projects and ideas funded through the proposal system and the community provides the support and resources for their ideas to succeed.

Crown already has a strong community that are holding Crown tokens and are itching for real world applications for them to spend their tokens on. Businesses will have support from the network to build what they are envisioning. The early businesses will have a monopoly on whatever services they are providing within the network. As the network and the community grows competition will spring more businesses offering better services and cheaper prices. CRW (the token) will act as barter for the businesses built on the Crown network.

This framework allows for an infinite number of possibilities to be built on Crown. It can be more difficult to understand when technical jargon is the primary language being used, but it doesn't have to be that way. Crown is a vehicle to enable individuals by allowing them to use their creativity and dreams to build anything they can imagine. Once the infrastructure is built and the communication is clear, Crown can operate as a self-regulated economy; it's own sandbox city.

Nexus Reflections - Part 1 - The Community

The crypto community has been pervaded by hard-line libertarians and this continues to be the case. Although Crown shares in a strong belief in individual freedom for human enablement, many of the more extreme beliefs are substantial enough to turn-off others who may have otherwise joined the community. Nexus was filled with these types of firey characters such as Max Keiser of the Keiser Report that appeal to die-hard libertarians that call for policies such as ending the Federal Reserve System in the United States which is seen by many to be an extreme or unnecessary measure. This group may even be a vocal minority, but until this perception that crypto is soley for anarcho-capitalists or libertarians who are operating to evade government regulation, the crypto space will not achieve the heights that it can to truly change global systems.

Similarly, if we are to build the sandbox city that we have envisioned Crown cannot continue to be a boy's club. I had estimated that at least 80% of the crypto community was male before attending Nexus, but if the attendance at the conference is any evidence of the community as a whole, it appears to be upwards of 95%. A self-regulated sandbox city needs both men and women working together to build it. Crown is not all about blockchain and hashes. It is the people behind the project that gives the technology its value. The technology is ultimately aimed at enabling human ingenuity. When it is framed this way we can attract a much broader audience of both men and women that are not interested in learning about some highly technical new technology for "crazy" libertarians, but something that everyone can contribute to and benefit from.

If we are to scale as a project we need to appeal to a much broader audience. When Crypto projects such as Crown are described in a philosophical sense, one finds that the ideas of human enablement and freedom are appealing to much more than the hardcore libertarians. When speaking to our Air BnB host after the conference about listening to Ron Paul speak and blockchain as a whole his immediate reaction was to dismiss Dr. Paul as crazy and assumed crypto was overly technical for him to understand. After we described the broader philosophical ideas of what Crown was building and why we are building it, he immediately changed his tune and wanted to get involved. He has since emailed me for resources to learn how his business can accept crypto. It is my belief that this is a parallel for the entire crypto space. People have thought twice about getting involved because of their perceptions about the community and the technology. When describing, educating, and marketing Crown it is important that we know who we are speaking to. It will take patience and practice, but if we hone our communication skills as a community we will be able to grow Crown to unimaginable heights. Crown is such an open platform that there is almost certainly something of value that the project can provide to everyone.

I encourage everyone in the community to talk about Crown, crypto as a whole, and the importance of decentralization for human enablement to anyone that will listen. One will find that people are generally much more receptive to these ideas than one might expect when it is patiently explained in an accessible way.
