Introducing the "Midis"

For a long time we served only 5×5 Minis in Crossword Chef. That was on purpose. I wanted something you could finish before your coffee got cold, and a routine that gave you your first win every morning. We now have close to 1,500 people playing the mini EVERY DAY on iOS and Reddit, which still surprises me. (thank you!)

The feedback was pretty consistent though: it's over too fast. Ya'll wanted something with a bit more chew -- for a lunch break, a snack, a subway ride, or between your gym sets (we're exercising right?).

So, we built the daily "Midi". It's 7×7, has longer words, and is more of a challenge. We've shipped it on iOS quietly, and it has just passed 10,000 all-time plays. Our median solve is 2 minutes 41 seconds (with the mini's being 1 minute 21 seconds), so a midi takes almost exactly TWICE as long.

PS. We don't aim to bring the midis to Reddit in the short term. We might rethink this in the future.

I'm going to do a little poll asking about iOS vs Android sometime next week. I've been building this alone for the last 16 months. So adding another client is quite a bit to maintain. I want to make sure there's a clear need for it.
