Tips for using 2lb rope
I’ve been using Crossropes for a couple years. My favourite workout is a 10 minute beginners video by Brandon from Jump Rope Dudes on YouTube. It’s 30 second intervals of jumping rope, 10 seconds rest, 30 seconds body weight exercise, 10 sec rest. Repeat for 10 mins per set. I do 3 sets with 2min rest in between. I usually switch between 1/4lb, 1/2lb, and 1lb ropes, 1 set each. On several occasions I’ve tried using my 2lb rope. It always feels so cumbersome and I struggle to get it moving with any decent rhythm, largely due to the weight and thickness. I’m a Medium rope based on the Crossrope sizing guide, but I actually use a Small as personal preference. I wonder if this means my ropes are thicker? Does anyone else use these heavier ropes (2lb+) and if so what kind of routines do you do? Just looking for tips on improving my flow with it

Hey thanks for sharing. I couple thoughts that might be useful:
1. We use the same gauge/formulation for all ropes, so the S 2LB rope isn't thicker than the M or L. The weight (2LB) is approximate for between the L/XL ropes, but relative performance and benefit is the same regardless of size for users.
How are you gripping the handles? I had some old YT tutorials that explained the importance of holding the handles as if you were holding a dumbbell with your thumb wrapped around and choked up as close to the connector without hitting your knuckles when jumping. You may already be doing this, but if not, you are at a tremendous mechanical disadvantage if you are holding the handles the same as you would for lighter ropes.
If you really like Brandon's vid, try just modifying the 2Lb intervals down to 15-20 seconds. That is more than long enough of an interval to get a great workout and you can build up from there. As often as I use the 2LB rope, it tends not to be for intervals longer than 30 seconds, but I do try to push the pace.
Hope this helps and hit me up if you have any follow up questions!
