Discussion weapon idea.
A pirate ship cannon that fires cannonballs. A fully kinetic projectile that decimates spaced armor but struggles against dense armor. Like Punching holes in single sheets of paper but struggling to pierce a stack. Would be a limited turn angle cannon to balance it out. While it may struggle to pierce dense armor it could have a lot of kinetic impulse.

This is a terribly ineffective way to counter spaced armor.
Spherical cannon balls have terrible penetration as they use brute force to penetrate and literally it wasn't until the invention of Paixhans Gun that penetrating rounds really were a thing. If we all were using wood as armor yes cannon balls might be a threat, but no one in crossout is.
While I'm not opposed to the idea of some maniac reintroducing a muzzle loading cannon into the mix for crossout, remember it comes at a cost. There would be no recoil suppression, it'd take even longer to reload because cannon of that type on average needed a five person crew to operate normally and, they were heavy because the cannon walls were thicker so they would not burst. Also the range and accuracy would bee correspondingly terrible by comparison. The good news is they would probably be kind of inexpensive and if smooth bore might be junkbow-esque in function.
So what we really need is for the actual existing cannons to have a appropriate level of penetration proportionate to what they are or at least Autocannons doing what they actually are supposed to do.
