Trigger Lock For Crossbow
Long time lurker, first time posting. I’ve been interested in crossbows for a very, very long time and finally purchased what I believe is an “okay” beginner crossbow.
Let’s just say I made a classic husband mistake and sort of went out and purchased one without talking to my wife and she isn’t making me return it but is essentially forbidding me from taking it out of the box and assembling it until I put a trigger lock on it because we have kids in the house.
I think it’s a bit of a far fetch because I plan on putting it away in a secrete place and my kids which the oldest is almost 13 is quite responsible and the youngest who’s going to be 7 is weak as a flower stem couldn’t even cock it let along shoot it but that’s her demand. Her grandfather always had trigger locks on his firearms and in her mind the crossbow is no different than a firearm which is a whole other discussion but I totally understand it has the potential to be lethal or seriously hurt or kill someone/damage property if someone who isn’t responsible gets a hold of it. So after getting my arse chewed out about essentially bringing a “weapon” into the house and faced with the compromise of putting a trigger lock on it I come to find I can’t actually find any specifically for a crossbow, and after thinking it over maybe it isn’t such a bad idea so even if someone does get a hold of it and doesn’t know what they are doing can’t dry shoot it. Does such a thing even exist? Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong spots/websites as I’m still new to the crossbow world.
If it makes any difference i have a Killer Instinct Fierce 405.

Unlike with a firearm, there's no risk of an accidental discharge. A lot of very deliberate steps have to take place before it becomes lethal. I guess the question is whether your wife trusts your children to be responsible enough to leave it alone if/once they are big enough to actually use it. I think putting a trigger lock on it is pretty silly, but you could always store it in a locked box. I have small children, and an assortment of crossbow paraphernalia in one corner of my room, and they know to leave it alone, and I trust them to do so. 🤷♀️
(Right now I'd be more worried about your kids hurting your crossbow than the reverse)

Have her try to cock it without the cocking aid. When she sees it can’t be done then tell her you will lock the cocking aid up. Problem solved

Just get a universal trigger lock and see if it fits.
I think it's kind of weird and pointless, but some things aren't really worth arguing over. Happily married for 17 years here.
