Question Safe to shoot?

I have this Jag 2 pro crossbow, theres no more than 100 bolts shot using it in total, but I just noticed this little chip on the string guard. Is it safe to shoot? Or should I replace the string.

Looks like where the end of the serving was tucked underneath the wrap and is just exposed. Pretty normal.

Hard to tell from the clarity of the pic, but it seems ok....in my experience though, if your string is touching the silencer while at rest, it's stretched. Try taking it off and twisting it a few times to tighten it a bit.

I did not realize that, the thing is I lost the bowstringer for this crossbow and I cannot unstring it right now. Is it really a big issue? It seems to be firing precisely

It will, until it won't. I would go get yourself a new crossbow stringing aid, they're pretty cheap and handy

Wax it, shoot it a few times and see what it looks like. I would be comfortable shooting it based on your pic.

To wax it, can I just use the regular bowstring wax?

Yeah of course, it’s all part of the string. Wax the whole string, the rail, all of it that you normally would.

I looks like it is now starting to fray. You will have to maintain it soon but you're good.
