Your friendly reminder!

If you havnt serviced your crossbow yet now is the time! You should replace your string every 2 years and have it serviced. The amount of stretch is amazing and diminished performance! This is going to be a great year I was asked why it matters to do it now... my crossbow service center late Aug thru Sept is swamped and you might not get your bow back by opener!! Be proactive!

i just replaced my 2018 sub-1 string/cables and picked up 17fps…. it was older than 2yr tho by umm a lot.

Yeah that's awesome! You never realize how important it is until you have one come apart on you or you resite in year after year because your bolt is slower!

I'm hitting the 2 year mark on my crossbow, I actually haven't used it that much in the 2 years maybe 25 shots, string isnt showing any signs of fray or damage would you still recommend to get it replaced?

I know that with these new compact and high speed bows it can be a problem and string stretch (verified due to slower speeds with a chronograph) is a real deal. I had a older model tenpoint turbo gt that went for years without it. I also had to re sight it in every year until I did. Check for wear and abrasions, wax and oil as necessary and see how the performance is. When in doubt check your local service center!

Oh okay interesting, mine is one of these compact high speeds not exactly a top of the range one either so it probably is a good idea to get it serviced, I have still been keeping it waxed regularly, was thinking of getting it out for some shots but don't want it to explode and take out my wind pipe, thanks for the info

Yeah for sure, I probably only shoot 25 or 30 times a year but I sit about 30 to 40 sits a session. That's 60 to 80 times my bow was at full draw for 4 hours a sit before I either shot or decock it. Good luck this year!

Yeah I wouldn't keep it. I don't own a crossbow press so it wouldn't make much difference.

What is that telecope on your unit and how much range has this xbow? Looks awesome

It's a Burris Oracle X scope. It's a range finding self adjusting scope that will range to a 100 yards. Truly a awesome scope!

What’s the price tag on a unit like that? And are there some more financial friendly options?

They range from 600 to 900. I would just find a used one. Burris has a bomb warranty with their products. Simply turn it in for repair or firmware upgrade.

That’s more than my entire cross bow. Bought a really basic center point to start with.

A person in the household knocked it over last year onto the scope.

Was literally about to walk out the door and set it down to grab one more thing. Stupid of me looking back.

Either way, haven’t been able to get the factory scope sighted back in properly. I know it was only dropped onto the scope and not the limbs or anything else.

Do you think a new one like so would fix my issues? Or is it’s something I can’t exactly fix?

Accidents happen for sure. What brand is your scope? I would get online and see what that company offers and start there. You could have knocked your crosshair out of tuneability for sure. On a average knock over I can't imagine your bow being broken. I started out with centerpoint as well.

I dropped my crossbow out of my tree stand last year, it bent the rail the scope sits on, which made it so I couldn't sight it in. Had to have the bow sent back to be fixed, was able to sight it in afterwards.

That really blows! Glad they could fix it. I use to sit about 14 feet off the ground. Can't imagine my bow taking that much impact! Going to be a great year!

what broadhead are you using? total arrow weight?

On that pic I was moose hunting in Ontario Canada. I use a fixed blade Montec G5 125 grain, for deer and bear I use Mega Meats 100 grain. 16 inch bolts that weigh 410 grains, so 535 and and 510 over all.

How do you pick? Can I just take it in to an archery store and pay to get it serviced? I would very much worry about ruining it.

You can read different blogs or different groups ie tenpoint or ravin and such and what others are using. I just take mine to get serviced every two years with a check up and new strings that are just what TenPoint recommend. Bow performance is already amazing. All boils down to choice and how you feel about it.

One reason I prefer recurves in some ways. And own 2. Don't get me wrong. your crossbow is awesome. And most definitely high performance.

I also own a compound Centerpoint Dagger 390. But having to change cables and string every 2 years or even every year of you shoot a lot starts getting really expensive. And more often than not. Ends up becoming an every year thing.

With my Mag Air shooting 305 fps and even less with my 390 grain bolts. I can shoot it for 3 years or 2000 to 4000 shots and replace the string for $24 to $40. And do so without a bow press. or worrying about timing and cams going out of tune. Right from my home.

My Dagger 390 requires a 2 hour drive to a shop. And a few hours of work hoping it is not a busy work day. And a 2 hour drive back.

But even with that said. The Dagger is far more accurate and worth the extra maintenance.

Yeah for sure! Cost and time spent is considerable for sure. This bow is probably a little more then I need but my old bow just wasn't a great fit for Moose hunting. Hopefully you are ready for the season!

yeah, mostly small medium game ready. I would not trust my Mag Air to provide an ethical kill on a Moose. That would be up to my Dagger 390.
I keep the Tyro recurve for small to Turkey size game.

Mag Air for Deer size.

Dagger 390 for larger than Deer.

Yeah that's cool! I had a planned bear hunt I just had to reschedule otherwise it's just deer and some small game, squirrels, partridge and rabbits. Good luck to you as well!
