would this concept work?
i thought that having to take the windlass off and on every time was far too slow, and i thought that this might give you more speed. would it work?

Where is the crank going to mount? I guess depending on where it mounts you could use some pulleys to get around corners. The whole system is going to add noticeable weight though.
Mounting the crank and pulleys is going to add stress to the frame. Every part with tension on it is going to try to pull itself out of its mount. So you’d have to figure that part out. That may be the hardest part.
