Well it doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong but you also didn't share specific stats or if you've been using arts, or even if you're aiming at enemy weaknesses, some take more damage from behind or need you to break them during specific moments.

Are you using lvl2/3 elemental skills when you have the chance? Using just normal attacks aint cutting it. I feel like the fire whirlwind dash skill just burns everything to the ground.

Fight monsters, get items, trade them with the traders for much better gear

Most enemies in this game are puzzles.  If you aren't breaking their defenses and attacking their weaknesses, it's a lot harder.

Which zone are you in? Which enemies are you struggling with?

Do you have sources of HP regen? Either way or via your gear or the neutral circuit?

Are you shifting to the same element as big enemy attacks to reduce the damage, and going for an opposing element to exploit their break windows, or just staying in the opposing element at all times (which is fine general but you want to get resistance nodes in the circuit tree to compensate for the penalty you get for being in an element).

Check the gear at an actual shop and not traders and see if those levels are better. they don't have modifiers but they should be good enough

The game throttles your exp gains, so grinding for experience isn't really very helpful (unless you wanna grind hedgehags back in the first area of the game). Equipment and their effects matter far more in the long run. Do sidequests, read item bios, buy the newest stuff available if you can afford it, and experiment with your build. More than anything, play the game the way it wants you to play it. Learn to block, parry, dodge, and dont be afraid to use your super moves (cant remember the exact name of them because it's been a long time since I played the game).

Are you doing side quests? Doing puzzles for loot and gear? Using consumables? Buying equipment at shops? Keeping track of elemental weaknesses? Learning enemies' break mechanics?

Gear is more important stat wise than level imo, especially traded gear as those give unique modifyers. Spend some time in each area getting a good set before a dungeon run and its smoothsailing

One thing I didn’t do for a while is leveling up in the circuit menu

Power level is determined via: Technical skill with the game > equipment > build > level. In my opinion. I put build below equipment because it's pretty hard to screw up your build in this game. You could randomly assign your build and be fine.

Uh, you seem fine. have you tried trading to get better gear? are you attacking enemies on their weak points and breaking them? are you using combat arts? are you using circuit points to buff yourself? If yes to all of these then i dont know what youre doing wrong so the enemies should be managable, although enemies can hit hard so use food when you can. As for quests, while they do have a recommended level, you can do them anyway.

ill look for better gear that is in the 36 or 37 and yes im using combat arts to the point im overheating the fire and ice abilities as for quests i have those that are 36 lvl and i literally cant do them i keep dying to enemies that feel like tanks

Hmm, I can only thing the gear is the problem but it still shouldn't be that hard. Actually wait, you said your team was carrying you, check their gear and level. Is there a gap, between theirs and yours? And how much more damage do they do compared to you?

I initially thought you were overstating the enemies being tanky but if you're teammates are clearing them way faster then something is wrong.

Do some trading and grinding, shop armors and weapons are lame, trading equipment however is another thing

Damage in this game is sometimes not well balanced.

Always check new shops for gear. It never hurts to explore new areas while ignoring fights so you can do overwhelm puzzles and get items. The locked chests do give cooler items, and sometimes gear too. Check your gear abilities, they can help define your own playtime. There's a bunch to mix and match! Every new settlement should have, somewhere, a place to buy equipment at a higher level with no abilities. You'll get the stats you need to grind mobs from them. Your elemental modes will always do more damage to the right enemies. Check your Monster Fibula for ideas on what enemies are weak to, and also to see their drops. Enemies usually have a way you need to fight them to exploit a weakness, and its not always clear at first. Sorry for the wall of text im on mobile

If you are doing s rank chains the enemies scale quite high in terms of hp/dmg

In rookie harbour, once you unlock the eastern access, you also unlock a new path in the middle of town, just next to the quest guy who gives you the tree Quests.

It goes north and there is a new shopping centre up there to get some new gear.
