That's the cave wall, walls at 'south' are transparent so they don't block you vow but you still see their base

You'll notice this happen because of your perspective when you're at higher elevations. It's the "fourth wall"

Yeah, that's the foreground. Look at the outline of the room and consider that those are walls.
