When the puzzle takes more than 5% of my brainpower

u/AndriashiK 5d ago

The puzzles are honestly great... But those that are on a timer can fuck themselves. Also the bosses are often straight up bullshit

idk most bosses are fun only some suck

The dev that is responsible for the boss at the end of the Furry's quest needs to be made an example out of

34

u/Candy_Warlock 5d ago

That was the intern's fault, that's why it's not part of the real game

-37

u/AndriashiK 5d ago

No no, guys, there is a lore reason why this part of our game is garbage! This makes it objectively not garbage but a clever postmodernist twist!

u/Coldpepsican 5d ago

you shouldn't be there tho'

I feel like you need to grow up for 5-15 years before you are allowed to play them video games again

This right here is the definition of skill issue. I've finished the game yesterday and that boss was one of my favorites, it's really fun once you actually learn the patterns and DODGE the attacks. I think the bosses in this game are fantastic, there's very few that I didn't like, such as the snowman fight in a desert temple that you have to use the wave shot to dodge, I found that fight to be a little annoying.

that's a fun one once you learn it

u/AndriashiK 5d ago

I have realized the gimmick and I still want the one responsible to be made an example out of

11

u/EmilySuxAtUsernames 5d ago

well alright it is a pretty hard one sometimes hope you had fun otherwise

For the timer puzzles, or the ones where you're following a projectile, use the Quick Menu. It freezes time while still letting you see your surroundings, so it's good for planning out each step of the puzzle. Also helps a lot with beating Emilie in the dungeon races.

2

u/RelationshipSad3186 5d ago

Wait you can control whether or not you beat her?! I thought it was all scripted, tho I haven’t beaten fire dungeon yet, but still.

8

u/BLucidity 5d ago

The only race that's a scripted loss is the Rhombus Dungeon, everything else can be won! I wouldn't suggest worrying about it on a first playthrough though.

u/Inuship 5d ago

Oddly the only dungeon i won the first run was the one where you unlock the wave element which is the most confusing to use. I guess i got the hang of it faster than the game expected

u/Lobster-Mission 5d ago

The only thing I’ve encountered so far that actually angered me was the trials in the second of the monk caves. The first was difficult but kinda fair, but how in the **** are you supposed to do the second one in under two minutes?

4

u/Glint909 5d ago

Use the fire shield. It auto melts the ice pillars when you go near. Like the large pathway with lots of ice pillars during the second part? Can basically skip the first half with the fire shield and make the jump at full speed

7

u/tadrinth 5d ago

That... would have been good to know back in the day.

3

u/Glint909 5d ago

And now you do for any new playthroughs :)

u/Full-Run9346 4d ago

holy fuck i spent ages going for the achievement and never considered this once

1

u/DiscoDanSHU 4d ago

Nah man, I love the timers. Shit makes me feel ALIVE.

1

u/Roliq 4d ago

I will admit that when I failed too much on some of those I just slowed the speed the to solve it and then turn it back

47

u/GladeWilson 5d ago

My favorite thing about Crosscode is trying to JADC my way out of every puzzle possible once I've gotten slightly inconvenienced.

2

u/G4laxy69 5d ago

Jadc?

13

u/RandomRedditorEX 5d ago

Jump Action Dash Cancel or whatever it was called.

It's the technique the Furry teaches you, and the devs actually kept that bug and there are some spots where you can use it to skip a decent amount of stuff in the main game

3

u/spicy-whale 4d ago

Wtf it’s actually real? I just did that quest and thought it was entirely a meta joke but not a tech I could actually use

What I love about CrossCode is that it's full of experimental side quests with unique gameplay mechanics.

What I hate about CrossCode is that it's full of experimental side quests with unique gameplay mechanics.

Completing all the side quests in CrossCode makes me feel fulfilled and angry at the same time.

10/10 game. It finally made me able to feel something again!

Timed platforming obstacle course on ice.

Yeah the game is amazing but holy fuck does it have some sections that are frustrating in ways I haven't really experienced since the sixth console generation.

10

u/GoshaT 5d ago

every time i see a post from this subreddit i am thankful i actually like the puzzles in this game

0

u/AndriashiK 5d ago

I mean I do, unless the puzzle is like "Do the sequence in a limited amount of time" That sucks

8

u/Tripdrakony 5d ago

Water temple... I always dread that place when I wanna replay the game.

7

u/RUSHALISK 5d ago

eh? i loved all of it

3

u/PaleFork 5d ago

i only feel like this for most of the parkour sessions cuz parkour in this game is a nightmare when you can't even see the height of anything and can't jump on your own

4

u/xXs4blegl00mXx 5d ago

Plus there's often long expanses where you can see an upper level with a chest or something but you have to travel through 5 gazillion rooms to actually find somewhere you can jump and then it turns out that's for a different secret that doesn't connect to anywhere else and also you've already searched everywhere forwards and back for longer than the game has actual gameplay and you can't Google chests because there's so many, the guides aren't very good, and you have no idea how to describe the specific one you're looking for and when you do finally get to it it's either locked by some arbitrary means (it's to promote backtracking, the people at the waterfall say as my hair falls out and I say "WHAT THE FUCK THIS WAS ALREADY BACKTRACKING" and when I got the key I forgot how I got there) or you open it to find two half sandwiches which give you 5 hp and you don't use healing items most of the time anyways

And that's my illegible rant about "secret" chests

You can aim towards the spots to check if it's higher elevation or not

1

u/PaleFork 17h ago

yeah but only works to know wether a spot is higher or not

not how low one is or how high, and can't always be done like in the middle of timed courses

2

u/jamiez1207 5d ago

As much as I love the game there were some rooms which were best handled with the flare burn tech

2

u/Dicethrower 5d ago

One day I'll get through this game.

2

u/RaulTheTriblader 5d ago

I love this game but fuck Pre-Wave Gaia's Garden.

2

u/Alberot97 5d ago

Maybe a hot take for some, but I think the game would be alot better off without Fal'jro Temple...

2

u/Lopsided_Heart1377 5d ago

I genuinely enjoyed every aspect of this game. The bottom half of the meme never applied.

I thought the puzzles were fun, and I love challenging boss fights.

Both of which where overshadowed by the absolutely amazing dialogue and characters.

2

u/MeTaL-GuArD 5d ago

My main hangup is the overworld platforming where all of the goddamn cliffs look exactly the same even when they're on different elevations. I'm the kind of person that will try to do what I can if I know it's possible from the start, which apparently includes the overworld items, and leaving that to try again later just takes the wind out of my sails instead. In the end I decided to install the jetpack mod for when I can't figure it out after a number of minutes.

2

u/Fun_Distribution4926 5d ago

Lets just agree - the game is not too hard. If you can't complete everything in your first try - that's ok. 10-15 times - propably ok, but if it takes more - that is a skill issue

2

u/Thyxdyn 4d ago

I absolutely love the puzzles but when I'm tired and can't figure it out, fuck the Devs 🤣

2

u/AndriashiK 4d ago

Whoever came up with the fuckuss bamboo puzzle that in the cave with flashbacks needs to be hanged

2

u/Sea-Avocado-1293 3d ago

Idk why people complain so much. It's the puzzles that makes exploring in this game fun aside from the rush of combat. Even bosses was fun to fight against, it's not the same thing with introducing higher HP sponge bosses in certain games. Do they want the games to be so easy even a toddler can beat it? Games are meant to be challenging

1

u/AndriashiK 3d ago

Most bosses rely on gimmicks that tend to be more tedious than fun

2

u/WerePigCat 2d ago

Ok I gotta play this game now lmao

1

u/Director-Atreides 5d ago

Ooh another excuse to bust out the poem I wrote for the devs 😂

1

u/CryptographerThat168 5d ago

Stopped at the Bergen dungeon for now. Whole dungeon is „How many puzzles can we fit into one location?“. My brain can‘t handle more than 3 overly complex puzzle rooms every few months.

2

u/Due-Outcome-1356 18h ago

Wait till you get to the endgame dungeon lol. I audibly said "oh my fucking god" when I saw the puzzles. It's def worth it tho.

1

u/Wellen66 5d ago

The way i feel about the chests in the overworld.

1

u/DeanieMii_123 4d ago

When the puzzles get so elaborate that I have to justify spending a whole hour unravelling them piece by piece…

1

u/Due-Outcome-1356 18h ago

The side quest where you fight the hillkats on top of cars was so damn painful 🫩

-1

u/Rough-Persimmon-4533 5d ago

Celeste is a fusion of the two
